He’s clearly letting other teams make moves and then he thinks he can come in a lowball some guys when the competition runs out of cap space. Either that or he’s in a coma, because it feels like we’ve been caught flat footed today so far.

He could also be in on a big fish like Bertuzzi. What worries me is desperation setting in as the options dwindle and we end up having to overpay for whoever we do end up signing.

Wait, I'm a bit confused. Do we want to run back the same roster or no?

Running it back with the same core with a worse supporting cast than what we just had is not ideal. We’ve lost a 3C, a physical defensive defenseman, one of the better and more coveted bottom six players in the league, and a top 6 forward and all we’ve done to replace them is sign an over the hill goon.

If Shanahan is adamant about running the same core back he and Treliving have a lot of work to do to make the parts around them good enough to win.

It’s hard to find that kind of finish.

All kinds of Finnish here ...

Out

Luke Schenn Predators, 3 years, $2.25m cap hit, Ryan O'Reilly Predators, 4 years, $4.5m cap hit, Michael Bunting Hurricanes, 3 years $4.5m cap hit Justin Holl Red Wings, 3 years, $3.4m cap hit Accari Penguins, 3 years, $2m cap hit Kallgren Devils, 1 year, $775k/$300k split

In

Ryan Reaves 3x3.25

I don't mind that besides the Reaves bit

A lot of those guys we we let go were getting on in age and this roster could use an infusion of youth

Been at the cottage. I see nothing has been done to improve this team......great. 😠
Quite the opposite... we overpaid to resign an offensive black hole for 4 years, failed to sign Matthews, failed to sign Willy, then proceeded to watch all of the exceptional talent we traded heavy assets at the deadline for, that all played very well for us in the playoffs, walk the f*** out the door and leave us picking at dog shit to fill the roster.

F--------- so far today.

Great, what we need is a stooge anti vaxxer to make this team even more unlikable. Guy has the IQ of a pumpkin.

I know it’s early but this offseason looks bleak so far and I’m having a hard time seeing an improved team next season (at least on paper).

Perhaps they’re banking on Robertson and Knies being key contributors, who knows.
With Kerfoot, Bunting and Holl leaving isn’t that enough cap space to sign Bertuzzi?

Love Acciari, wouldn’t have given him term AND 2m.

I do not believe in paying 4th line grinders 2m or more, especially anything more than 1 year
Acciari turned a 1 year deal at $1.25 mil into 3 years at $2.0 mil for a player already 31.
Hes a bottom pairing D who had to play up at the top 4. Not a good guy to sign to a long tetm deal

A slightly better Justin Holl.

Outside of O'Reilly, I don't particularly care about the ones who have left. Even with O'Reilly, the last of speed was an issue.

I'd like to see something interesting go down. Hopefully a philosophical shift into something more speedy and aggressive.

Again, it's difficult to really have any opinion until the roster is set.

He signed for less because he's 31 years old. Kampfs deal ends and he'll be the age Acciari is now pretty much. Kampf plays the hardest defensive minutes on our team, even when Acciari was here and you think 400K more for Kampf to do what Acciari does offensively and what he does defensively is a bad contract because Acciari is more physical.
I would have Acciari over Kampf any day as both play on the 4th line.
A missed signing is a missed signing and a bad signing is a bad signing.
Kampf at 2.4mil is a bad signing as he is a 4th liner.
Even if Acciari signed for more, Kampf contract is still a bad contract.
