NA3 Central Division leaders Wausau Cyclones are on an 8-game win streak after doubling up on the St. Louis Jr Blues this weekend. 10-1-0-0 record so far, and looking like they won't slow down anytime soon. Their leading scorer F Jake Garrow has 12 goals & 22 total points. Their roster has seven '04 players (final season of eligibility) and thirteen '05 players (including all 3 goalies). This is their year to reach the top.

I’ve seen some Wausau games this year and their D seem to struggle against a fast, aggressive forecheck. They are very clean through the neutral zone however and in the offensive zone.

I'm no expert but it does seem the older NA3HL teams tend to play a more cohesive, tighter game. Although keeping older players from leaving for perceived opportunities is also difficult.

My 2 cents, Granite City and Helena look really solid again. Historically they do well. Now, NAHL drop downs change everything, or players leaving for "greener" pastures, but these two teams are early front runners.

Three other noteworthy NA3 performances so far, in 2 Divisions ...
  • In the East, the Binghamton Buzz are on a 6-game win streak yielding a 10-2-0-0 record. 61 goals for with just 24 GA helps explain their division dominance.
  • In the South, the Texas Jr. Brahmas & Louisiana Drillers are battling for 1st place. TX is undefeated with 10 W's, powered by a whopping 59 to 9 GF/GA differential. LAD is just a point back (9-0-1-0) with a 9-game win streak, and minimizing their PM's to keep themselves rolling.

And, the Buzz are a first year franchise as well.
