If Weegar’s career trajectory tells us anything its that he could turn into a pretty solid top 3-4 guy for us and offensively he could be due for a decent breakout as well. I like what I’m seeing from him.

It’s strange that Yandle is getting a lot less ice time so far this season and much less responsibility and yet he’s being more careless with the puck. He needs to simplify things and just make simple plays. We need him to take on a leadership role and continue to QB the PP...just stop being a giveaway machine.

It would be nice to get Vatrano and Borgstrom going. They had some decent moments tonight but that 3rd line seems to be a revolving door so far.

As others have said, I’m not too concerned about Bob. He’s a slow starter usually and seems to get better as season goes on. If we can stay afloat for the next few weeks and stay in it, he’ll be winning us games by himself before we know it and hopefully by then we can make a serious move in the standings.

At this point there are only two players I really worry about, Barkov and Yandle.

Barkov because he shows no outward signs of injury but he’s very tentative compared to what he usually is. Is it just a matter of a few more games? Did he not train well this summer? Did he overtrain? Did the hit he took in preseason cause an injury that will heal if he’s careful for a couple of weeks? Q seems to know and doesn’t look too concerned so that helps a bit.

Yandle because he’s just playing the worst hockey he ever did. His problem isn’t a mystery illness. It’s called getting old and not trying harder.

Rewatching this game, I'm starting to see 2015-16 Matheson. Keep it up dude.

Weegar had an incredible game. He and Ekblad are solid.

On the whole, except Yandle who is even more of a piece of shit the second time, the D is outplaying our forwards.

Who woulda thought....weakness becomes a strength (and vice versa unfortunately).

what awful couple of periods of hockey. unlike the last game, where we rolled our sleeves up and got rewarded for some hard work, this one was a cakewalk. i worry that the team takes the wrong message away.

in fairness, i had to miss the 3rd but what i saw in the 1st and 2nd was really lousy.

maybe a subtle nod to accountability at 2:10 or so, talking about rewarding the players playing the right way with key playing time?

love how he kind of drifts off when george is asking his last question. "what? did you say something? oh... PK". lol. probably thinking about his tee time tomorrow.

Even before coach Q, Tallon wanted Yandle on the third pair he may be re-adjusting

He might be too proud for not accepting that bottom pairing role in which he should be slotted to in all honesty. Yandle is a QB specialist and if overused will succumb to a series of mistakes. That was on full display in last season but this aspect is sugar coated because he puts so a lot of points. If Yandle is penciled as a top pairing or even as a circa 20min top4 dman, the Cats can forget about achieving substantial success in the playoffs if they someday make it there.

Maybe Weegar or Stillman is the missing top4 dman but a lot depends on adding more reliability to defense.
