For Calgary fans this is probably the most accurate assessment of Nemec’s game I’ve seen. Has some really nice potential but struggles to show it all the time in all situations and he struggles in some other areas. An encouraging thing might be that he was stuck behind a Devils RD log jam and actually played better in elevated roles when he got the chance.

Could turn out great still if he can improve in a few areas (more d zone intensity, better stick, slightly quicker feet)

well....that certainly hints that the 6th OA pick will NOT be Verhoeff.

it does seem like a big price to pay

I'm fine with this. We have a lot of picks that we could move. I think this might be the start of a few more moves. I trust Conroy. I don't know much about Nemec, but we're solidifying our future defence that's for sure. Now we need some elite offensive talent.

It’s a huge price to pay. Unsure why CGY gave up that amount. People just see that he was a very high pick and get excited but he is very average… at times very below average
It's well worth the risk. Calgary has an abundance of good but not great prospects. This adds to that higher echelon that those late 1sts likely wouldn't have

I don't dislike this trade, it's the type of quantity for quality trade we need to make with all our assets/picks and I'm glad we're on the side of the quality, however...

I'm just unsure whether Nemec is the player to use the assets on. Time will tell. I like that he's an offensive d-man and in today's NHL they can drive so much of the play.

Huska is going to have earn his money with Parekh and Nemec though, 90% of his coaching time will be teaching these guys some defence.

Thanks for the insight

Exchanging futures for the number 2 pick RHD from a recent draft that was otherwise a catastrophe for the Flames.

Devils fan....

I think this is worthwhile trade for you given that those picks are all likely late and not really all that valuable. Morin seems like a nothing prospect.

Lot of upside with Nemec and there's still a chance to get him to develop. He really just needs the defense to come together in order to a be positive because the offensive game is legit and he needs to get better with zone exits in particular.

I don't know that there's a top pair D man there but if he's the offensively minded second pair guy I wouldn't be shocked.

Does this hint at Parekh falling out of favour?

Seems odd to add in a guy above him on the right side the projects to fill the same role on PP1
