Confirmed with Link: Nemec going, going, gone…to Calgary (for two future firsts and a second rounder)

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
A lot to like there, dumping Tsyplakovs contract and getting a bunch of future picks as capital to make further trades or restock the cupboards with someone competent at the helm making decisions in the draft (no more Chase Stillmans in the first round).

Nemec never wanted to be here and he's not worth close to what he's asking for.

Good value, but unexpected and odd return for solely a futures based package, but Emily’s tweet makes sense. Hopefully Sunny flips some of those futures in other packages for real upgrades

Can someone translate this for me? How do guaranteed first round picks "slide".

Does this mean if one or both ARE top-10 picks then the subsequent year the pick has no protection?

The big thing Sunny needed more than anything was some flexibility. This gives him some extra cap flexibility, roster flexibility, and capital to expend. Makes quite a bit of sense and doesn’t hurt how good our team currently is given Nemec’s struggles.

exactly. those FLA picks are trash. 9 & 25 this year and what do you think next year is? mid 20's? for 26 YO top 5 forward
The point is you can use these picks to acquire other players. It’s what happens all the time because despite what you think teams value these picks

If Vegas or Colorado fall into the top-10 in the year the pick is protected they slide to the next season, which at that point they are not protected.
