Post-Game Talk: Need a win? Make it so!

Didn't look like anything more than a minor strain, maybe a hip flexor or groin or abdominal/oblique from when he stepped on the puck and his back leg shot out on him. 3 weeks until playoffs should be enough time even if he sits out rest of the season.

I think we're going a bit overboard in this thread. They know they want to be healthy going into the playoffs and are going to be conservative if they feel something right now. Assuming he injured it on the play he stepped on the puck, he was still able to play for a while before he really felt it enough to pull himself.

A guy needing to be helped off the ice with zero weight on his leg after blocking a shot definitely looks a lot worse.
You underestimate what a drama queen Ehlers is. We will see hah.

I can’t shake the feeling that HFOil is dying a slow and inevitable death.

GDTs are less busy, PGTs are less busy. Most games don’t even have a GDT up till late in the day.

Y’all better not be treasoning yourselves over to Reddit.

Feels like more posters fall off with each extended downtime

Reddit sucks

Reddit is overwhelmed with bots and low effort, one sentence posters. The main NHL forum really has nothing going and the format discourages any real discussion, and the Oilers forum specifically gets barely gets any engagement past it's censorious moderators who have the entire board on permanent lockdown. If Hfboard is bleeding posters, it's not to there.

Sloggy hockey. Oil squeeze another 1 goal W to an NHL high 22. Pickard with another great anticipation late gave save to bail out his team. Support guys produce with Skinner, Brown and a late season surge Arvidsson pushing pucks by a solid extreme rookie Sharks tender.

Draisaitl leaving the game is obviously a big concern. But big picture so is the league's top team in shots, 32 per game with only a 10.1%, 22nd, NHL below 50 percentile finishing. Hoping the Oil won't have 78 goals, 190 points out of their line-up for any extended time.

Getting their fill of adversity.

It’s the constant non stop skinner talk and barrage of insults you get if you dont write a treatise on why you hate skinner from the usual suspects and the downright pessimism on almost every topic regarding the team. It was bringing me down.

I’ve been coming here since 2002. I come here out of habit, and now that ive made a conscious choice to try and break that habit and spend less time here, not have a tab open all day and/or periodically check in from work. I’ve been enjoying the games more as well as I’m not posting during games.

Also, I think a lot of posters who regularly posted here are probably just banned.

Its that really, even when Skinner had a great two months stats below.

18GP - 2.30 GAA - .917 SCPT - 13W - 4L - 1OTL - 1SO - and then the team decided it was time to stop playing defense

And the usual suspects were still basing him at every turn, leading to pages of Skinner bashing in GDT for simply a goal being scored on him. Its a reason my ignore list has grown, and I don't have an appetite for making GDT anymore.

Theres less NHL fans now period. Newer generations aren't taking it up as much. Less people playing hockey, watching hockey, or talking about hockey. Here or elsewhere.

When you consider this is one of the busier hfboards it certainly is dying out.

As usual we're making goalies look good on most nights. This goalie wasn't much when he was getting shelled 8-1 by LA. Not sure what to make of this club needing several saving gmae stops just to eke out another 1G W against the worst team in the league. Seems like whatever bad team we're playing it goes right to the wire. Now Draisaitl injured again. Not a great feeling coming out of this.

Is this season some kind of record for EN futility or what?
I could swear the Skinner shot was going in and somehow it hits post. Its like rubber magnetic posts. heh

Bigger news for the Oilers I guess is its now legal to do WWE takedown body slams. What a disgusting joke of a league this is with what happened this week. How does the NHLPA not oppose this mayhem? Chatfield should be out for duration of season and playoffs. But its Carolina so...

This team is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games mostly without McDavid, Draisaitl and Ekholm but if someone just read this board they might think we were back in the decade of darkness where everyone except those three were a waste of cap space. It can get kind of depressing.

Legitimate criticism is fine. But it is always so extreme. Every player is either great or a complete loser. And sometimes on the same night.

Also the endless complaining about players that are no longer here. The revisionist history to try to justify the continual moaning and groaning. They’re gone. Nothing is going to bring them back.

I don’t spend as much time as I used to here. I drop in and drop out, maybe make a comment or two during the game.

A lot of Oiler shots were uncontested point shots that any goalie (yes even HFOil's favourite whipping boy) would save. Fittingly the one we took that had an actual netfront presence went in the net. This isn't a particularly hard working team, they rely on their skill to win games and while that'll work against a number of teams, when the playoffs roll around you have to pull up your pants and get to the dirty areas. With Draisatl potentially out again we'll have to work hard if we want to earn a W in LA.

Conversely, the team kept playing the same game, and he, Stu, starting not making that extra save again. That seems just as likely. Either way, this time with him out doesn't really encourage anyone to put him back in the net any time soon, imo.

Geaus fk are record is absolutely insane when the goaltending manages +.900 save percentage. Think we are like 36-3-2 now. That is absolutely mind boggling

Is there an easy way to compare this to other NHL teams?

Like, is this sort of record standard across the board or more pronounced with the Oilers?
