Did you know in their rookie seasons, it took Ellis 32 games to get to 11 points while it only took Pionk 19 games?

So what your saying Stionk is surpassing Ellis ? This is great news. And here I thought he was the second coming of Peter Smrek.

Looking at points and goals is just not a good way to analyze a young defenseman.

McDonagh and Ellis were WAY more polished at earlier/same age than Pionk. Not unexpected given what they were pegged to be but people probably need to temper expectations.

Who is actually comparing him to Ellis and/or McDonagh? The guy that mentioned Ellis asked, "Might we have found an Ellis-esque defenseman?" That's not really comparing him to Ellis or saying he'll become like Ellis, just that he thinks there might be similarities. The guy that mentioned McDonagh only did so in response to a stupid comment earlier in the thread from a guy who asked how long it took Ellis to record a goal (again taking the Ellis quote out of context). We're only looking at points because one troll brought it up in his initial "assessment" of Pionk and then made a subsequent comment after failing to comprehend the post he was replying to.

You, sir, have a detective-like ability to follow a trail!

Ellis isn't small, he was when he was drafted but he got a lot stronger over the years.

Neal... I hope that he bulks up those legs and gains a step. The head and hands are there. I think he's an everyday NHL player... Question is... Can you win with him?

The Stionk thing really isn’t funny and I hope it doesn’t catch on. The bozo thing was pretty funny but at this point it’s done with and trying to recreate it is lame

Thankfully Atleast 1 D is standing out. I really don’t see Gilmour and O Gara being more than AHL depth and I want deAngelo to succeed I just have no clue . He could go either way

A descent camp and Pionk is in the top 6 next year after what he’s showing now

Zero Goals 4 assists and a -6 in 14 games. Wonderful player who's 20 minute "contribution" is part and parcel to a NYR defense that gives up 40 shots + a game if they are lucky. Feel free to show me the heat maps or whatever you people are looking at to justify your pedestrian opinions of Neal Stionk . As far as the nickname goes, it may not be a quip you enjoy but there are plenty of Ranger ans around the world who donate their hard earned money on a monthly basis to be both informed and entertained by me. How about you ? When the overrating of a player is so egregious as it in this case he needed a nickname. Remember Mclbust ? How did that turn out for you ?

This post has aged as well as Axl Rose.
