Other Sports: NCAA Thread v12

6-2, the Western Michigan Fighting Keith Joneses are national champions

I thought this was possibly his best chance to get some money & join a team with legitimate playoff aspirations for next year.

Texas Tech’s GM retweeted a tweet on twitter from a media member praising Tennessee & Heupul for walking away for Nico.

I think the old man might be the biggest dope in recent memory for helicopter parents. It’s looking like he completely overestimated his cards here. I think at this point they might be in scrambling mode to find a good situation on the field & that will pay anywhere close to the $2M he was getting at Tennessee.

Other than the obvious immediate rule change that would take place, Dalton Risner basically did that to a Denver RB at the Goal Line a few years ago, didn't he?

The old man’s PR spin on this one is pretty funny. I never saw somebody so out of their depth.

It’s probably the best scenario at this point to land at UCLA. They have a new OC but at the same time they were one of the worst offenses not just in the P4 last year but the whole country. So there’s a lot of work to be done there.

@JojoTheWhale i need this to happen.

And they got him.

We’ll see but their wide receiver situation is looking better now. The two other transfers Devonte Ross & Kyron Hudson have been getting good reviews so far since they arrived. Far more than Cephas & Flemming who the media had to get the staff to talk about when they were here as they weren’t doing too well in spring/fall ball before the season.

I think Pena definitely is a bit of a product of the offense he played in last year. Syracuse threw the football more than anybody in the country last year. So there’s going to be a drop in production going to Penn State which is going to run the football a lot. But Pena can get open which their receivers last year couldn’t do.

So they had their spring game yesterday. It wasn’t televised this year. But by all accounts the WR’s looked good which more importantly backs up what’s been being said this spring so far. Obviously no Pena but Kyron Hudson, Devonte Ross, & Tyseer Denmark made some plays yesterday. Along with Pena that’s probably your top four WR’s for next year.

I don’t know if it will factor into this upcoming year but their true freshman class is generating more buzz this spring than previous WR classes & some of that apparently was on display yesterday. Lyrick Samuel, Matthew Outten, & Koby Howard. I think Howard would be the most likely to play this year without redshirting as he’s the most polished of the group coming from Florida. Outten played small level football in Virginia & essentially was an all purpose type of player opposed to an actual WR. So he needs to learn the position. Samuel is 187 lbs. current on a 6’4’ frame. He came in around 170 this winter as an early enrollee. So a lot of physical development still to take place. Also played in NYC in a run heavy offense. So that’s a big jump also.

So fingers crossed that they’re hopefully figuring the position out going forward.
