Pretty much sums things up on this matchup & the state of college football. Texas A&M recruiting wise is on par with Alabama, Georgia, & Ohio State but I’m not really convinced Jimbo Fisher is actually a good coach.

So the #3 team in the country curbstomped the #11 team in the country.

Inject the twelve team playoff into my veins!

I don’t disagree but at the same time the bowl system doesn’t really matter anymore either. The sport in general isn’t really compelling in terms of the national championship picture but that’s where all the focus still is even though a few teams can realistically have that expectation.

The playoff system in theory was a good idea but in the Nick Saban/Alabama era it hasn’t produced what some probably expected. If we had the parity of like 15+ years ago it would have been pretty cool imo but unfortunately that isn’t the case.

Yeah I first started wanting playoffs around that time. Of course they institute them at the least interesting time possible.

Richardson is fascinating as heck. (I literally just remembered my promise to watch UF football as a reverse jinx, totally only gonna watch until ND/OSU starts)

There are so many guys like Richardson and Jayden Daniels with unbelievable talent and absolutely no idea what they're doing yet. It really should be a fun draft watching year.

Hell, I don't trust Clemson to figure it out, but Uiagalelei probably has the best arm in CFB.

I don't think it's close. But if he can put it back together again he's an interesting name if he wants to declare.

The only thing left that semi-matters at this point to me is the regular season so adding more teams to a playoff just kinda makes that pointless too.

As we’ve seen with the playoff games the first round are never close so it’s just delaying the inevitable even longer.

It’s also in a way likely lessening the chance of an outside team actually winning. A team like Alabama will make a twelve team playoff every single year. In the four team playoff format if they lost a game during the season and then didn’t win the SEC they likely weren’t going to make it. Now? They’re in and they’ll run roughshod over every other team. The regular season will just be a warm up for those teams. There’s no stakes. There’s such a wide margin for error now.

TL;DR the playoffs have worn out their welcome to me personally. Good idea in theory it just doesn’t work with where college football is currently at.

The fact that they even have to play more games to win the title makes it more likely that they are upset - it's not in debate. They probably won't be, and it will probably be a waste of time, but it's more possible. So it's a good thing. The big thing, though, is that there will be more games with actual stakes at the end of the season. Those "stakes" may not be super realistic with the behemoths waiting for the winner, but it is at least possible, and it will be fun in the meantime as those teams fight to survive and advance. There is no downside at all. None. It's crazy to be against an expanded playoff.

It lessens the chance of any particular tier two team winning one, but increases the chances of a random team doing so. Even if Bama is 90% to win every playoff game, more chances to throw a low roll hurts them.

I like 2 or 6 with 2 byes the best tbh.
