Mainstream smart analysts like Bud Elliott are starting to notice that Colorado can't recruit. This has been the weirdest possible season arc and it was all because TCU was very good last year. Not even this year.

I brought it up like a month ago (Bud was harping on it then as well) but they had like 7 recruits in their class with one of them being an OL (who just flipped to Missouri).

That’s just not gonna work at this level. You can’t go that heavy into the transfer market. There just isn’t enough good players in there & it’s not like the competition stops there either.

Even along the OL, Bud was saying this offseason that even average to below average OL were getting some good NIL deals to transfer up to the P5 since the overall talent pool just isn’t plentiful at that position. The few legitimately good ones are going to programs you expect to see land those type of players too.

The schedule softens up next year compared to this year for Colorado but really doubt their strengths/weaknesses really change much. Not that you were going to change your OL fortune in one recruiting cycle but they seemingly aren’t even trying to play a long game there on that front.

So I do wonder if Deion thought/thinks he’ll be gone by that time but I’m not so sure that will be the case. I think what he did at Jackson State is harder to pull off at this level.

Another reason to hate Fox, this is the best YouTube account at posting like 25-30 minute extended highlights of games.

All they had to do was hire him to do it officially for them, but I guess that's too far out of the box.

I guess he wouldn't have been able to do other networks' games, so nevermind lol

They do their own but they’re more like around 5-10 minute highlights. Fox was even copyright striking clips on twitter over the weekend too. So I guess they’re completely cracking down which sucks.

They have the 64th rated class right now, but everyone knows they want to play in the transfer portal. I think they did get a 5* QB. Leaving the PAC 12 is going to make it harder to recruit in California.

They have 3* QB in last class & a 3* QB in this current cycle.

Edit: They have 4* QB in the 2025 class.

I think what you're remembering is that they got a visit from a 5 star QB. It was definitely a story that he took an on campus for the Colorado St game. Underwood was largely thought to be LSU vs Michigan and LSU at this point is a heavy favorite. On3 has him at 75% LSU, 10% Michigan, and tiny portions each scattered at a bunch of different schools. Colorado is <1%.

Yeah, they're at various spots in the 50s or 60s depending on which site you go by, but the class rankings are as much a reflection of quantity as they are quality. What they're not doing is getting the former. They have 10 Commits for 2024 right now.

LoD mentioned their OL because it looks catastrophic. You can't just materialize an entire line out of nowhere in the portal. The bodies simply don't exist and when they do, they go to high profile schools.

They have an average star rating of 89.21 according to 247’s composite rating. So they’re essentially averaging a 4* recruit. So they definitely are getting a higher caliber of recruit than what Colorado has been accustomed to.

But that is amongst 9 players, only one is an OL (a JUCO recruit). They really have no numbers with that class in general let alone along the OL. Given those general lack of numbers you’re really not giving yourself enough lottery tickets for things to hit. Even the best coaching staffs around the country probably miss on 40-50% of their class but when you’re taking 20+ players a year you can mitigate those misses by recruiting over them.

Even Mel Tucker recruited more than that & he was kind of the transfer portal guy before that. Once he couldn’t produce a Kenneth Walker out of the portal things went south.

My guess is he doesn't plan on being there that long and prefers going the transfer portal route instead.

I do too but you could take a lot of former P5 flameouts from the portal at Jacksonville State & most those guys were probably at least average players at that level. I don’t think that’s the case at the P5 level. When you’re basically taking 40+ players from the transfer portal there just isn’t that many good players in the portal & you really start scrapping at the bottom of the barrel which they basically did this past summer. Hunter & Shadeur were great adds but you need more than that.

I think in reality this is going to be a longer road than Deion expects & he’s not playing the long game at all.

It sucks, he's a good guy, he did a request for me for a friend whose son plays for NC, she couldn't get to the spring game so he cut the scrimmage up and posted it. I like how many times he mentioned Fox.
