Cornell up 2-0 in the 2nd on Denver, BU gets the winner. If Cornell can hold on, having last years National Champs (going for their 10th title, which would be the most in NCAA history) it would be huge for BU's chances to go all the way.
Bit of a tangent, but I've seen some disrespect for Farrell's production, citing the ECAC as weak competition.

While it's true the conference is weaker, especially at the bottom, it tends to be a lower scoring, more structured game than the more talented Hockey East or Big10. Specifically Quinnipiac, Cornell, and Clarkson all tend to be among the best defensive teams in the country year in/out.

I told y'all.

I know it's petty but really hope he doesn't end up a 80-100 point guy. Not sure I can watch Habs miss getting the better player on multiple top 3 picks.

Sucks to cheer for a loss, but i would like to see him play a few games in the NHL this year.
Feel like it would be good for him carry his team to championship. Would be good winning experience.

Or...even better story: Maybe he loses today and since were not officially eliminated form the playoffs, maybe he brings us to the show and Sean Farrell leads the Habs, against all odds, to winning the 25th Stanley Cup!

And the crowd goes wild!!

The ECAC is weak, no question. Quinnipiac only recently has turned into a power house as they clearly are one of the top defensive teams but look at the level of talent they are facing when not playing Harvard.

Clarkson isn't what I would call anything special defensively, or at least not that i've seen (granted we haven't had a prospect play there for years so I haven't paid much attention to them) their program is nothing special I would say.

Yale has had some good years but has been shit for some time now, Dartmouth not as good as Yale has been but they have been in even worse shape of late.

Brown is almost always terrible outside the Yann Danis year or two with Princeton being not that much better. Then there's RPI, Union, who aren't known for having good programs either. Colgate and St Lawrence look to be on the upswing. I'm not too surprised with St Lawrence as way back when I covered the Habs for HF, I interviewed the then assistant coach at Cornell who was on a scouting trip (it was to talk about Ryan O'Byrne), he's now the head coach for St Lawrence after working under what imo is one of the top defensive coaches in the NCAA.

To me the NCAA has way too many teams, just too many bad teams. 60+ teams is too many. Always felt they should drop the Atlantic as it's just too far below the level of the other conferences, they almost never have any NHL draft picks in the conference. The CCHA or former WCHA, is another one I would cut. Clearly they are the better conference as Minnesota St has really come on but once again there's very little in terms of NHL draft picks and that says a lot imo. I would even go as far as to cut the ECAC, since they just don't have that much talent outside the usual Harvard, Cornell and now Quinnipiac.

The NCHC is usually the toughest conference imo, though of course it varies from year to year as the Big Ten is having a year and they will always have many NHL draft picks due to Minnesota and Michigan being two of the biggest powerhouse programs in the NCAA's history. Wisconsin sucking so badly stinks and Michigan St after some really terrible yeas might be turning the corner. Notre Dame has dropped off a bit after really stepping it up for years now. Ohio St is usually a good team though they have had their share of ups and downs. Penn St has surprised me this year, so we'll see where that program goes as I haven't been sold but like the coach for his run and gun style.

Cooley might end up leading the league in points at this rate. Sucks to watch.
I wanted Cooley as well. But don't get buyers remorse from it.
Ive opted to latch onto HuGo's gamble that the combo package of Dach+Slaf instead of Logan alone is a better avenue for us to the future build of the team.

Let me put it this way
I watch Cooley from afar now since he obviously doesn't belong to us, and definitely like what I see and am happy for him but I don't "long" for it like "gaaaah that could of been US we BLEW it!! Unreal!", because like I said I love what we traded for+drafted instead too,

BUT, I know we DID get Lane Hutson.

If I would of spent this whole year, watching some Colombus Blue Jacket prospect named Lane Hutson do all the things HE did and showed everyone this year??
I KNOW all I'd be thinking about is "motherf***er, when are WE gonna get a Makar or a Hughes or a Fox our own Hutson?? God damn its not fair, why didn't they take a CHANCE on him??"

You know what I mean lol?

I havent watched any college hockey this year outside of Michigan, but I can speak to the previous 5-6 years of the ECAC.

Quinnipiac, Cornell and Clarkson really emerged as perennial frozen four calibre teams. All three play a very stifling game which can be frutsratingly boring to watch. Colgate and St Lawrence are weaker versions, but the same style. None are easy to rack up points on.

Havard is typically the most talented team by a substantial amount and is more willing to open it up. By far the most NHL draft picks and prospects as well.

Brown, Princeton, Yale. Dartmouth, RPI, Union have been trash.

As to the other conferences I agree with your assessment of the Atlantic, but the other conferences all serve a purpose. No scouts watch the Atlantic at all, players just go there to get scholarships, try to put up a big season and transfer out to a better conference. But at the same time, I'm not sure how having more teams/conferences is hurting anyone. Look at college basketball or football, literally 300+ programs exist and I don't really see too many complaints about it. More programs in more states means greater exposure and development of the game. ASU for example looks like a really fun environmnet to play in.

Cooley has very good potential but his team has 14 NHL drafted players. Hutson's team has 11 I believe. What's the general norm of NHL drafted players on NCAA teams? I do think how deep the team is does play a factor in evaluating points. Not saying Cooley is a star or he sucks.

We are not going to know for a while yet on who is better... Slaf, Nemec, Cooley, Wright, Jiricek.

Any chance Quinn Hutson (Lane's brother) gets signed by someone down the line? The games I watched this year I thought he stood out to me, but that might have been just because it's Lane's brother.

Older freshman, but for comparison, he was draft eligible the same age as Tuch and one year after Pitlick and outproduced both. He seemed to get better as the year went on so perhaps next year there will be an improvement in production. Pretty sure I read he was a late bloomer as well growth wise so he might not have been on the radar if he was a shrimp.

Harvard having their hands full against OSU.
Farrell lost a puck battle that lead to a 1-0. Dobes has face 2 shots in 13+ minutes.
