I wanted Cooley as well. But don't get buyers remorse from it.
Ive opted to latch onto HuGo's gamble that the combo package of Dach+Slaf instead of Logan alone is a better avenue for us to the future build of the team.

Let me put it this way
I watch Cooley from afar now since he obviously doesn't belong to us, and definitely like what I see and am happy for him but I don't "long" for it like "gaaaah that could of been US we BLEW it!! Unreal!", because like I said I love what we traded for+drafted instead too,

BUT, I know we DID get Lane Hutson.

If I would of spent this whole year, watching some Colombus Blue Jacket prospect named Lane Hutson do all the things HE did and showed everyone this year??
I KNOW all I'd be thinking about is "motherf***er, when are WE gonna get a Makar or a Hughes or a Fox our own Hutson?? God damn its not fair, why didn't they take a CHANCE on him??"

You know what I mean lol?
I haven't seen any Cooley but it should be well understood that Slaf was going to be a guy we have to patient with.

I am wavering a bit in my confidence with Slaf myself so I get it to an extent. But man if he hits we could have a crazy top 6. Like you said with the Dach deal too. Suzuki, Caufield, a glut of guys coming up who are question mark-y but do have a lot going for them--Roy, Farrell, Mesar, Kidney, etc. Plus still a likely high pick in a deep draft and we can be laughing very soon.

I still see worst case scenario we'll have a fun team to watch that can easily be in the mix of perennial contenders. Even if we lack a true superstar up front (I feel like Caufield can be that fairly confidently though) we could ice a team that's top to bottom rock solid. We easily have the pieces. Really just lacking a goalie from what I can tell. Which is fine by me after 30 plus years of only having a goalie and little else, I'll take that trade off 10/10
