Watching Illinois vs Houston, couple things.

Short shorts should not be a thing, that Michigan player a few years ago who re-started that stupid trend, I hope he steps on a Lego.

Hanging on the rim to not hurt yourself shouldn't be a technical foul. That Illinois player would have killed himself had he let go too early.

I didn't watch the whole game so I just took a quick look at the box score. I don't know how they looked head to head, but at least on paper it looks like Holmgren had a bigger overall impact on the game than Duren. Which is a bit surprising given that Holmgren is 7' 194 lbs while Duren is 6'11" 250 lbs. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it will be interesting to see how the 19 yo Holmgren looks if he bulks up a bit; he's a beanpole out there right now.

edit: out of curiosity I tried to see what 7'6" Shawn Bradley weighed as a freshman in college and saw that he was recently paralyzed from the waist down in a bicycle accident. His wheelchair weighs nearly 500 pounds, took three months to engineer and, he says, “costs more than most cars.”

It's funny to see fashion make a complete cycle. I'm old enough that short shorts were the norm back in the day (we made fun of the one teammate that had long baggy shorts, lol). At least now they have compression shorts that most players wear underneath the short shorts.

I'm personally of the mind that shorts of any kind should always fall above the knee. They don't need to be crotch huggers, but when they go below the knees they look really stupid and don't do their job of keeping your legs cool half as well.

I mean if they fall just above the knee whatever, but I'm seeing more and more hip-hugger like shorts with no compression shorts. Let's not revert back to that.

Gonzaga, like the program and admire their competitive spirit not being a big conference school.

But, they again are the bridesmaids and not the bride, hell they aren't even the maid of honor. At this point I'm not sure it's in the cards for them to win it all.

As a Heels fan, I don't feel good about that possibility given how the narrative is "supposed" to end...

Unlikely to happen, but given how hot UNC's been, you never know.

As a lifelong Tarheel fan present for a lot of those battles, It would be epic no matter how it ended. Hard to say , but K is the goat and its been an awesome ride.

The issue is that it forever gives one side the trump card. All of this “the last 100 meetings between these 2 teams the aggregate score is 6,452 to 6,451” or whatever, that’s part of what makes the rivalry great. Give one team a Final Four win against the other… a bit too crushing a blow.
