NBC Playoff Coverage

I was never a huge fan of Engblom but I find myself preferring him to Pierre. He calls it how it is without going off on tangents about his mancrushes like Pierre does.

Micheletti is doing a good job analyzing the Kings-Sharks series. He definitely shills it up a bit for MSG broadcasts, I wish he took a slightly more neutral approach during our games.

The announcing has been fine for me.

The problem with neutral broadcasts for me is that Rangers are always depicted as the underdog between periods.

When they're winning its what the other team did wrong.

I just always get the feeling that the broadcast crew doesn't want the Rangers to win. I'll take this any day over listening to Jack ****ing Edwards though

Nathan couture shakes his head at you. :sarcasm:

Joes a little too excited for the draft.

Just wanted to say I'm still not happy that we go through 70 to 80 games(full season) of our MSG coverage throughout the season then have these NBC outsiders calling the most important games of the year. At the very least give us the home games. Huge flaw that the league can't come through for the fans come playoff time.

Could be worse...I'm pretty sure all of the baseball playoff games are carried by national networks. At least as hockey fans we still get a couple of home broadcasts in the first round.

What the league should allow is the stations that carry the teams in the regular season to "buy back" the playoff games from NBC.

MSG can pay market value from NBC for playoff games. NBC would still make money and MSG would be able to carry the playoff games. Everybody wins!

The lack of replays is 100% unacceptable.

Could you imagine if the NFL cut to Goose on the sidelines every 3 min instead of showing a replay for penalties called? It's a joke.

That's a problem too !

That'd be fine with me.

Money, everything is money. Money.

That's the thing, its not just the announcers I miss, it's the actual game coverage. At least espn and espn2 got it right back in the day.

ESPN was horrible...so many playoff games not on TV because they made no effort to show them. At least NBC shows us each and every game. No comparison.

I don't need to watch every game like I used to as a young fan with all sorts of time on my hands, I want to see my team.

I do like when they show actual replays and talk about the game, these days they are more interested in other news or series and miss crucial stuff going on during playoff hockey where every nuance matters.

I lived outside NYC in 1994, I still got to see every NYR playoff game on network tv or espn/2.

Perhaps you don't, but I prefer to have each and every playoff game on TV.

Always with the persecution complex. Geez.

Howie is too deep in the orange and blue now. Kenny deserves it when the time comes. Hopefully, he brings Maloney with him, too.

Doubt Maloney gets tapped to do TV play by play unless he really curtails his criticism. When the team or a player plays like poop he comes out and says it. Not sure that'd fly.

As an NYR fan who lives outside the NY area the only times I see games if when they are on NBC or Center Ice, and Center Ice almost always carries the other team's feed. The worst has to be the Root Sports coverage of the Pens, they are the worst homers ever.

I think the NBC coverage is pretty decent. I know a lot of folks were pissed at Pierre McGuire's comments on the Ranger's power play but he was 100% correct. Some people can't take off the 'homer glasses' and accept reality.

Engblom is REALLY starting to piss me off. Everything sentence is a Bruin player or the Bruins team as the subject the Rangers player or the Rangers team as the object (if he even mentions them).

I swear the only player on the Ranger he gives credit for being good is Lundqvist.

Perhaps one day Howie will get called up to the varsity the same way Micheletti was. Kenny Albert is also fantastic, though.

Going to be tough deciding between the two? That's a nice problem to have though! Can't go wrong.

Are the Boston Announcers Retiring or being fired? Tonight's game sounded like the audition. In all my years watching Hockey, I've never heard the opposing teams homer announcers sound this homer.
