NBC Playoff Coverage

I never want to hear Strader's voice again. The guy has the personality of a snail. You can always tell who an announcer deep down is rooting for. Callahan got plowed without the puck and Mr. Strader says, They collided and there's no call. But Callahan tried to sell it. Of coarse there was no replay.

Sam, I miss you.

has nothing to do with their coverage but im going to be in the parking lot at saratoga tailgating for dave matthews saturday. how can I watch the game????

Dave Strader has been awful the last couple of games. Very distracted. Calling behind the play instead of with the play.

And Engblom doesn't even know what actually happened on the ice half the time.

Bad team. Strader is usually very good though.

If you want a more honest assessment of how the Rangers are playing, NBC is better. With Sam and Joe it is always "Great play by [insert other team]!" when sometimes it is clearly a horrid play by the Rangers and the other team just takes advantage of the situation.

Apparently they're all touching themselves in the booth every time Krug plays the puck...

It's a natural story for any media outlet to cover...kid gets a chance because of injury and plays like a star. Not unlike what Kreider did last year.

You're just annoyed because this time it's happening TO the Rangers!

I was in Texas for a good part of round 1 and the hotel didn't get NBCSN. I downloaded their app on my iPad and watched the game via Wi-Fi. It prompts you to log in to whatever TV provider you have first (I logged in with my Comcast ID). If there's internet access in the lot something like that might be an option.

I agree they would be gushing over Shrug too and Tyler Seguin Joe 45 shots, finally got his 1st goal, that just proves Sam if you keep pushing the puck towards the net good things can happen

Sorry he's right they overdue it

And when Pierre does a Ranger game on MSNBC he overdoes it on Callahan and McDonagh. It all evens out.

It's still better than Sam and Joe being afraid to point out bad plays by Rangers because they might be reprimanded by Dolan. Would rather have a neutral viewpoint anytime.

Sam and Joe go overboard to praise the other team

The game last night was great because Pierre wasn't there. It had moments of quiet. The guy just talks too much and he's very negative and fast to criticize. He also laughs at coaching/philosophies/things he doesn't agree with. He comes off as a jerk. Plus his mancrushes are embarassing.

He is very smart and has a lot of knowledge but his people skills leave a lot to be desired.

I'd prefer he not do Saturday's game either, I'll enjoy it more.

Aside from the fact they broadcast all of the games now, NBC does a terrible job all around. Their pure coverage is extremely lacking. Someone mentioned it earlier but they very often fail to show replays of penalties and they are not diligent with providing injury updates. Their talent / chemistry is terrible. Doc is great at what he does - get over the Devils bias - and I Pierre and Joe are good color guys. Personally I don't like Pierre - I think he's annoying and I hate how 2/3s of what he says he phrases it as a question to Eddie - but it's not as if he is blatently wrong about things. I think Eddie is "eh" but he often hesitates to give an opinion on things, which may be fair because of objectivity, but its to the point sometimes where he doesnt offer any insight whatsoever. I won't waste my time on Milburry and Keith Jones, but without question, they are the worst there is in the business. JR is better, but he almost comes to blows with Milburry because the chemistry is awful. I don't quite get the love affair with the "behind the glass" or "between the bench" angle but whatever.

Pierre knows hockey but he should have an off button, he just can't shut up

my favorite is when he repeats the same line/phrase in the same sentence..

He's quick, he's solid, and he's quick...

His analysis is great (he has a boner for Callahan, but in his defense Cally does bring it every game). His on-the-fly analysis is what is not so good.

I did appreciate him calling out the power play... I wonder if that is what prompted Torts/Sather to do the Richards shakeup

Sam is clearly slipping and thsts starting to grind my gears. I like unbiased announce teams so I appreciate the work that NBC does.

Olzcyk loves to distance himself from the Rangers, they will show Mess or Gravy and Emrick will say Edzo you played on that Stanley Cup winner and Olzcyk replies, that was a long time ago...I love this 4th line of the Bruins

Well he played 37 regular season games and 1 playoff game that season. He was hardly a member of that team ;). It's funny, you look at his career stats and he had nine 20+ goal seasons including one 42 goal season and three seasons with 30-39 goals. With the Rangers he managed 17 in his three years here .

Always kind of hoped Howie will get the call when Sam does decide to hang it up.

Will never happen. Howie is 59 years old and Sam is 66 (doing by year not date). It's only a 7 year difference, I doubt the next voice of the Rangers will be in his 60s when he's hired.
