OT: NBA & Basketball - 2024-25 Season

Gonna have to disagree with “the best team won”. Duke blew that game and was by far and away the best team in the country. Epic collapse by Duke. Lot of little mistakes and Houston pounced on every single one. I will give Houston that. Duke’s youth and weak schedule showed in those final moments. Excited to see Walter Clayton in the championship

That website lists Duke as having the 8th toughest schedule.

Interesting, not sure how their model ranks and gets those numbers. Though, I will say the ACC was seen as being weak this year and Duke didn't play in a lot of close, contested games late.

Agreed. The broadcast is very biased pro-UCONN and I love it!
I love Ryan and Rebecca.

Rebecca was born in Hartford and went to UCONN. Liberty ring of honor member. Ryan is from New York and called Liberty games on YES.

They're ESPN's #1 crew now and I love when the Liberty are on ESPN and both announcers try and fail to pretend they're not Liberty fans.

I think this is fair, despite the title in 2023.

They have a once-ever talent and they're really not getting enough out of it.

Tbh I thought the Knicks played well. Porzingis took a shot from Delaware and it went in. Sometimes, what can you do?

My only thing is, at the end of regulation, knowing they need a three, how do you not send them to the line immediately? We've had this issue with Thibodeau before. Game was on TNT but I know Clyde was beside himself somewhere.

Sabrina made the semis

That chart does not seem all that realistic to me though I won't argue the winner. Who created it?
It's from ESPN.

To be fair, I do think the basketball players got a boost over the baseball and football guys from not having split fanbase. Like, the Yankees people are not gonna vote for Juan Soto.

Obviously, there's only the Liberty in the WNBA and has anyone here ever met a Nets fan? I haven't.

A baseball guy won, but it's Aaron Judge. I mean, c'mon. Even my friends who are Mets fans like Aaron Judge.

I'm still happy she made the semis. People can pick her face out of a lineup. It's nice. She deserves it.

I mean a title will do wonders for your popularity with the fans - Panarin might have beaten out yankee Soto if this was done last year. But I gotta say I don't see Cole being loved by yankee fans more than met fans love alonso, warts and all. No jet or giant could possibly have won their match after last season.

This thing did seem to reach more Yankees fans for whatever reason, I agree with you there.

This reminds me of a funny story actually.

In September, my friend dragged me to some wrestling show I didn't want to go to, and the Liberty had just won a playoff series the night before so of course I wore my Sabrina jersey -- XXL seafoam green, very obnoxious.

I get up to take a piss because a Young Bucks match came on and I would rather piss (@will1066 knows what I'm talking about) and as I'm going up the stairs, this guy, trying to be a smartass I guess, yells "go Knicks!"

And I'm like... *Travolta.gif*

This is a bit like seeing a Yankees jersey and yelling "go Islanders!" We don't eat prey in the same jungle, my good fellow. These are different species.

The overwhelming majority of us, despite playing in the same arena as the Nets, are Knicks fans.

I got a kick out of that.
