Nazar

The CHGO guys discussed whether Frank Nazar is that long term help that Bedard needs. A month ago I would’ve disagreed, but he has been phenomenal lately and I don’t think it’s a ridiculous idea anymore.

Him, Bedard, Misa as your three high end core forwards is a pretty good place to be. Add in a trade piece or good veteran and that’s a great foundation. Especially considering you might have three up and coming elite defensemen.
I love Nazar and what he's been doing lately but I don't see him being the key to unlocking Bedard. They both want to be centers and they play completely different games. Nazar relies heavily on his speed and Bedard is more of a creative vision type player with a hell of a shot.

I'd love to see Nazar play with Moore and Mikheyev next season and watch teams try to keep up with that. Bedard would do well with someone maybe a little slower but could win a board battle and beat a defender one on one. Marner and Ehlers come to mind as they're both fast but not Nazar or Moore fast. Maybe throw in Bertuzzi on the line to stand in front of the net. I wouldn't mind Donato being a passenger on a line like that either. It'll be interesting to see what Donato signs for in the offseason now that he's a 30 goal scorer with 60 points.

I see what you’re saying. But pulling attention away from Bedard’s line could also be a key to opening up Bedard to play his game. If teams decide to key in solely on Bedard, like they have for two seasons now, the Nazar line would need to make them pay by beating up secondary shutdown lines.

Bedard needs a Hossa-like winger…defensively responsible and offensively gifted. Otherwise he’s playing wing, and he’s paired with a similar center. Second winger would be a sniper like Lardis. Imagine Bedard threading passes to Lardis on the weak side.

Nazar is going to terrorize the opposition, and a mature Moore would be a good combo…both play 200 ft.

Brayden Point comparison is looking good right now.

Exactly the kind of 2C we need behind Bedard.

He's also an infectious character, lifting spirits up and bringing the fight.

To me he's the best thing that happened this season, on par with Rinzel/Lev.

Great, great pick and trade, well done Frankie keep it up!

To think, Davidson turned Kirby “made-of-glass” Dach into Frank Nazar and Gavin Hayes!!! Huge win. Montreal got pantsed big time.

Said it before, Nazar’s speed and skill are a killer combo. Coupled with his aggressive 200 ft game, and he’s a dangerous all-situation player. Can’t wait until he starts converting on some the 15-20+ breakaways he’s going to get next year. There’s little doubt that he’ll figure it out. He’s a more aggressive Sharp who plays center. He’s going to be better than Hagel.

Hayes looks reasonably good too…like him more than Slaggert. A little AHL seasoning, and he’ll be a nice bottom six two-way center.

What?

Point is top 10 in 22mph+ bursts, and 20mph+ bursts. Nazar isn't, and neither is Hagel.

Really? Maybe it’s been too long since I watched a Tampa game, and while I liked Point, I just don’t remember him being that dynamic of a skater. Guess I’ll have to refresh my memory, that should be a great series against Florida.

Not saying I remember him being Strome bad or anything. Just thought I don’t recall Point being in Hagel’s or Nazar’s league.

But isn’t Bedard rated highly on speed bursts also? I can’t remember which chart that gets posted to try and back his skating up but I thought it was that.

Yeah I don't know man. Point has always been an elite skater. I think the Point comparisons are pretty crazy, we are talking about a 40G, 100pt, selke level player. I like Nazar, but that is setting the bar way too high for him. Hagel of the previous 2 years seems more realistic.

Maybe I'm mixing him up with someone, but I thought in his draft year his skating was just fine and that he really improved it.

Point is not a 100 point player, though, never has been.

over his last ten games, which is obviously a tiny sample, but if it's indicative of his future play then 40 goals are not out of the realm of possibilities, he was at a 41 goal pace over that sample...guys like Pius Suter and Donato near 30 goals, Nazar could easily become a lite-Point as a base case and Point as an upside case

In his prime, Toews was mostly considered a point per game player while only having 1 point per game season. No one is referring to the Toews where his play dropped considerably.

Even if you say his prime ended after his age 28 season, so 2016-2017 season... He was 71 point per 82 game producer. That's still not even really that close to a point per game.

In an era where each year only 1 guy was usually hitting 100 pts. Scoring was quite low. People were stretching more than they need to with scoring now.

But Nazar wouldn't be on an top bursts lists... because he didn't play a full season. Idk of those stat trackers use per game data at all
