“I was talking to [Woods] at the end of last year,” Day said between his third and fourth rounds, “and then he was saying the reason why he pulled out of the PGA was a screw went through the skin on Saturday or whatever it was. I don’t know how bad it is this time.”

rumors of a possible retirement circling right now also….
He won’t retire He needs to just be a guy for a while. Like 2yrs.

What do you mean? 4 days of perfect conditions happens all the time at British Opens…
I know I know right…and are they truly flat courses? I guess maybe the argument he was presenting was more like “in perfect conditions, he could compete to win”…

He could semi-retire and come back for the Champions and majors only….looks like that might be the way forward….

I don’t want him to retire but I also think he needs to be realistic about what he should expect when he does tee it up and not say things like ‘I wouldn’t be playing if I didn’t think I could win.’ It’s insulting to the rest of the field.

If all you are going to do is play majors for the most part you aren’t going to ever win again. I don’t care who you used to be, you are no where even remotely close to a shadow of that now so enjoy playing when you can and try to enjoy yourself.

It would be a pretty sad sideshow if every major was about Tiger making some cut record and seeing him limp around, a shell of his former self. Step away man….your body is telling you no right now.

Dominate on the Champions in 2 years when you can ride a cart…he won that Masters, which was already heroic and otherworldly worthy of Jack’s legacy. That car wreck ruined him on the big tour for now….and yeah…I don’t want him to retire either…..but I would love to see him play great into his 60s also.

I saw Jack when he was playing great on the Sr Tour, Trevino, Charles, Gil Morgan, Jim Colbert, Irwin, Ray Floyd, Stockton, etc….I want that for Tiger.

Obviously I don't mean no weather at all - that's stupid. I just mean really warm days with no rain, which happens every now and then. Tiger has said a hundred times that his leg can't go when it's cold. And by 'flat courses' I'm referring to the walk more so than the shots. Augusta is nothing but long uphill walks and long downhill walks.

If those conditions are met, I can see a path where he competes... But with very few chances every year it's definitely lightning in a bottle territory.

I think if Tiger steps away now, he has a chance to come back and win a non-Sr Major in his 50s….probably wants to sooooo badly take that record from Phil…..I can only imagine. I can’t see him doing that on the current path he’s on.

Tiger has earned the right to do whatever he wants with his own career.
Well yeah. We all know he’s not reading this thread thinking — “well shit, I was gonna do it this way, but Ridley Simon thinks I need to do it that way, so….let’s do it that way”

It’s weird to say “he’s got time”, but he does. 47 is the new 27. Right????

I didn't reply to anyone in particular because I wasn't speaking to anyone in particular. The overall sentiment/issue is pervasive in golf talk, articles, etc.

I side with "Tiger can do whatever the f*** he wants and who gives a shit about some rando's image of him or his feelings about Tiger's legacy".

Maybe that sounds harsh but I typed it very gently.

He’s not hurting his legacy in any way by trying to play….his legacy is set if he walks away today and never plays again….

“You know that you’re there shooting shots to try to get a contract. You’re probably not even a third star really on a good team because if you were the Lakers would have kept you.”

”Dinshittie Island”…..

Dunwiddie is the last person who should be talking shit about anyone. Kuzma played well in the Lakers championship run but the Lakers wanted someone more established since they were win-now and Kuzma wanted a bigger role and has since flourished. He made a bet on himself and won.

Dinwiddie has been on four teams the last three seasons. Every team he’s been on has decided he’s not good enough to win with. Brooklyn decided they didn’t need him when they went with their Big Three. He was ass in Washington and the team was a mess and was traded to Dallas for a player who is playing much better than he did or is. Dallas decided he wasn’t good enough so he was traded as part of a package for the player who replaced him the first time (Irving) in Brooklyn. Dinwiddie has played 20something games with Brooklyn and is trying to act like he’s been a big reason the Nets are good.

Dinwiddie is essentially describing himself when he says if the team thought you were a good player on a good team they would have kept you.

Dinshittie. LOL

That said, Kuzma is a clown who is seemingly into his own brand.

That’s great and all, but god help the team that signs him to a big money (max) contract and then he becomes just another lazy Kuz.

Yeah. I said it. We have one, we don’t need two

I actually like Kuzma's game but for him to remain Beal would have to be gone. But yeah generally the NBA players into fashion generally predict they will chase dollars and bigger media markets.

Trade Beal. Sign and trade Kuzma. This is the way. Though yeah, if they trade Beal keeping Kuzma is fine. Not great because they still don’t have a star but fine. They’d have pretty good depth and if they didn’t f*** up the assets from the Beal trade they could at least be competitive.

Either way unless they trade Beal or win the lotto this team isn’t worth following at all. As long as Beal is on the team with a max contract they’ll be irrelevant. Biggest waste of money in the NBA.

Nice work Ted, very glad you’re not tanking. It would be really embarrassing if you had a max contract player and were committed to winning and still had the 7th worst record in the NBA.
