I don't know how so many people are surprised by this. They are locked into Saros, Josi, Stamkos, Forsberg, and Skjei long term.
Their first rounders.Do they still have young promising players to throw away?
They're pretty bad on paper. No 1C, not a single top 4 RD, and no 3C unless Haula returns to 23/24 form. And Saros has been terrible for 2 seasons nowOn paper they are not awful , but the chemistry seems really off
They have some solid talent. Could be a playoff team if they get it together.
They can't really tear it all down since they just spent like 100 million last off season.
They won't get better but they might go back to a respectable form if they can find a way to get some chemistry going.Josi’s game could fall of the cliff any point now
I doubt any of Josi/RoR/Marchessault/Stamkos are going to get any better
In a few days, they'll officially have one of the 10 richest owners in the NHL.The basement is a brutal place for small markets businesswise. Trotz has a boss. Even if he thinks that the Preds are headed there, he has to try to fight it off until it's clear to the people that make the big decisions.
Sucks for organizations trying to get bettter at Nashville's expense. Perhaps change comes in-season.
Dreger: Look, Nashville is open for business. Im not sure if that business is pushing forward, getting better, or taking a step back for a year. Everything remains fluid and a single call, email, text, whatever could blow this thing wide open with Nashville making a bunch of trades, or they might just sniff around, get some ideas for the prices of certain players and take a few weeks to relax then come back and see what deals can be made.
What exactly is Trotz trying to do in Nashville?

Also getting some cheap contracts for depth will be big. There might be some gems out there if they get lucky.
