Wonder what theyre up to... just freed up 3.4 million for 2 seasons and now have 32 million in capspace. Granted seider and raymond gonna eat up lots of space but that is still a ridiculous amount to deal with

Their board is predicting a Stamkos signing. Hopefully we can find another "cap dump" like that. SJS got great value there.

I guess whatever Walman's off-ice issues are, it's something Trotz didn't want to bother with. Well, nor many other teams either given Detroit had to pay to dump him.
There has to be something going on off the ice with Walman for it to take a 2nd to dump him. His contract doesnt seem too bad

Well, sounds like Skinner is likely to be bought out. If we want to guarantee missing the playoffs for a higher draft pick, we can bring him and his curse in!

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we are going to spend close enough to the Cap for the extra $2.67M to matter. But it may matter a lot more for Philly.

His skating style does remind me of him quite a bit. Shorter stride with the skate not elevating much from the ice surface.
Correct, we current have 4M tied up for just this year, which would change to 1.3M for this year and next year (per CapFriendly). The key though is it would free up his retention slot.

I predict swaps for lower potential, but waiver-exempt, players. Woot, Perds hockey.
Tomorrow starts a very short 1st buyout period. Friday starts the draft. Saturday finishes the draft. Sunday is last day for 1st buyout period. Monday starts free agency. Lots of wheeling and dealing ahead.
Wouldn't be shocked to see them traded for "Glass or Tomasino but a defenseman". Maybe a name like Jordan Spence on the Kings or John Marino on the Devils.
Spence would be a good option to replace Carrier. Honestly see Fabbro tossed off somewhere as well

The problem with Spence is we need to get bigger and tougher on D. He's even smaller than Carrier. He's a good player for a second tier PMD, but hopefully there is a recognition that organizationally we need some different elements on D right now. We've got Stastney, Molendyk, and maybe Ufko coming... there's only so much room for smaller D.
There are a few dmen with size in UFA that we could use to supplement. Problem is all our dmen of size on the NHL roster are penalty magnets as well.
Zadorov and Myers would only further cause issues.
Tanev has health issues but could fit the bill. He will also draw a ton of attention.
Pesce seems like a good fit but his play did fall off some last year. Is it a bump in the road or a taste of things to come?
Roy isnt huge but he is solid.
Im not sure who would be available by trade.
We have Lauzon and Schenn currently for hits/size but id honestly be fine with ditching both if they have value.
Maybe stastney just fits in where carrier did.
