No issue with wanting ZLH to answer the bell, but the Wild are sounding a bit Vancouver Canucks facing Steve Moore about this. He also shouldn't be expected to go go with a guy that he gives up 4-5 inches and 30+ lbs to (e.g. Foligno).

This is a great learning experience for ZLH. It will help him to realize just how easy it is to get under the skin of these old "code warrior" types. He can take that to the bank and make them cry even harder. The best way is going to be to turtle when Foligno comes after him, then laugh and taunt him from the penalty box, then let Schenn or McCarron intercept whoever comes for him next while pretending somebody is holding him back, laugh at them, run the goalie a few times for good measure, go down like he was shot when he gets the lumber in front of the net. And do a nice celly if he scores a goal. Yapping all the way. Really rub it in. He will definitely "learn his lesson".

It was pretty minimal slewfoot. Much less dangerous than one by ZLH. And McDavid scored on ensuing 4 on 4 (one of Oilers jumped Kings player who did it), so that combined with him not getting hurt kinda takes sting off for Oil.

I doubt he went in thinking "I'm gonna slewfoot this guy and careen him into the boards" but it was definitely reckless and inadvisable IMO.

Cue the heater? We have a really easy schedule ahead of us, I’m thinking they could go for a bit of a run the next few weeks. The 8th seed is still reachable.

in years past it might have been considered an easy part of the schedule but the Predators are currently the third worst team in the league. Their is no easy games for a bad hockey team.

Nashville is now the easy part of everyone else’s schedule.

Was Spurgeon's (sp?) reckless? They were basically playing chicken at high speed going towards the boards, neither one stopped, they collided, and he took the worst of he. He initiated contact at high speed close to the boards and lost.

I know he has a high cap hit. But with a little cap retention it might work no?

I'd put the odds of this being considered (and Josi as willing to waive) at like...less than 1%. Would be happy to see it, but there's been zero talk on it and it should be expected he'll retire a Pred.

Yeah only way it happens is if Josi requests it. Maybe he wants to go Cup chasing at some point but I doubt that happens for another couple seasons at least and I really find it unlikely overall.

It's honestly hard to know with guys. Him or Forsberg either one may not ever want to move even if they want to chase a cup simply because of family life. That family life is super important to some guys and while they will sacrifice some home life because of the profession they just aren't going to abandon it to go cup chasing.

I think probably that is where both Forsberg and Josi are in their lives. Before the kid I wouldn't have put Forsberg in that category but now I would.

It would take something quite weird happening in either Josi's private life or the way the franchise starts treating him. It's not going to happen this year, therfore, given that all seems to be rosy on both fronts for him. Could he ever decide he wants out to chase a Cup? It's not impossible, but I think the odds this season are already at 0. After this season...? Things happen in peoples' lives sometimes, so who knows, but I would be shocked if he ever wanted out.

I think you just keep assuming he's going to retire as a Predator, have a bronze statue out front of Bridgestone, and if he ever decides he wants to continue in a hockey career after his playing days, he's going to have a job for life here a la Rinne. I think that's the de facto outcome everybody is expecting.

I think it is just outsiders looking for a bargain?

Normally when teams are tanking all the veterans go on the market, so I don't entirely blame them. I just don't think our management remotely looks at our team that way, and the commitment (and NMCs) we have means that we aren't going to be at all "normal" about this. So I would just dismiss it all out of hand.

I'd personally trade him while his value is still high. I dont think this is a cup bound team in the next 2-3 seasons. Skjei as 1st pairing isnt ideal but over the next couple seasons and Josi ages/slows that is likely going to happen anyways.

That said, he has a full NMC and doesnt go anywhere unless he wants to.
