Trotz said on the radio yesterday he and Brunette thought Fabbro and Tomasino had been replaced by younger guys coming in and their departure wouldn't hurt the team because Wilsby, Stastney, Svech and ZLH could step in.

While I like those guys, they should be replacing Schenn, Lauzon, Carrier or replacing guys like McCarron or Janko.

I seriously question managements ability to evaluate talent at this point.

And to that end, how many times already has Trotz said he tried to move someone but thought the prices were too low? I'm not 100% sure Trotz understands the trade market. I think that would be true of anyone stepping into a role like he has with very little experience so I don't blame him necessarily. It's just a confusing mess.
Reading this comment makes me think they have spots for vets and spots for the youth. It's like, whoa, here's a kid about to take a vet's spot, we need to move them because we have to have 8 vets on the roster right now.

30% of the way through the season, we stand alone with the fewest wins of any team. Only Chicago is within one of us. Every other team has at least 9, while we're at 7.

Why the hell would you seek to replace the mid to lower 20s players instead of the mid to upper 30s players? Hockey is more and more being geared towards speed. Which one of those age brackets is going to be more likely to deliver that? Which one of those age brackets will have contracts that age better? Which gives you a cost advantage? Like wtf.

Now im almost certain we are going to extend nyquist.
I have been saying, I think GMBT has some sort of grudge w DP and maybe even the Preds Org. And is going to burn it down. Why in the hell would he do that IDK! He just seems to want to go with all OLD guys damn what anyone else says and I will get rid of who I want! I am really hoping that is not the case and he just really sucks at being a GM right now.

Ya know who’s still winning even with a depleted, hodgepodge roster?

That’s right, Karl Taylor.

Karl Taylor is still winning after his roster has been churned and new guys brought in throughout the season……..
He even has a few geezers out there, so he can coach around slower guys in rocking chairs as well.

Trotz thinks Fabbro was replaced by a guy that hadn't played an NHL game and a guy who's out indefinitely (also a LHD)? And Tomasino by a kid playing bottom line minutes for like 5-10 games in a grinder role and another getting spot duty over like 4 games?

Like...for real? Trotz is aware that Fabbro put up back to back seasons of around 70 games and was generally our best RHD in that time? And that Tomasino had produced at a .5 PPG rate in his rookie season over 70 games on a bad team?

Does Barry actually have zero player evaluation ability?

Complete speculation, but I really think Barry is blindly trusting Brunette. As a former coach, I'm sure he had times where GMs tried to force players on him that he didn't like, so he's going full coach-friendly. Which is not a good sign when our coach needs to be fired.

If he is trusting blindly trusting Bruno, then the upside of that is that Fabbro and Tomasino finding immediate success elsewhere could possibly wake him up.

Not sure he has the humility to admit the mistake. At least Poile immediately admitted the miscalculation on Tolvanen clearing waivers and showed disappointment towards him being gone.

This is f***ing bizarro world shit that is happening with these two.

I was going to make a sarcastic reply that we don't have any strengths on this team. Then I reconsidered. Saros has actually played quite well. It's been a wasted effort with the team in front of him, but that's not his fault.

Then I reconsidered again. Besides Saros, we have basically nothing at the position. It's weaker than Hint flavored water organizationally. :(

I would say Murray and Chrona are both doing quite well in Milwaukee. The team has been somewhat decimated by injury/recall as well, so it's not necessarily purely down to them just having good numbers on a powerhouse team, they are also playing well.

Probably with them (and Annunen included) we have 3 goalies who, along with the tutelage of our esteemed goalie coaches, are pretty decentish backup options. Not at the level to step in and replace Saros if he ever got hurt like Lankinen might have been. But good enough to start the 15 games he doesn't start? Which I guess is all the organization thinks we are going to need in the next 9 seasons. :dunno:

Our PK and PP combined % is well over 100%. You'd think with that and Saros playing as well as he has, we'd be up there in the rankings.

To anyone who says special teams are or aren't important, 5 v 5 is obviously way more important to the success of a team. Crazy that I'd even have to write that.

Yes, we can "throw numbers at them" as a stopgap here or there, but it still feels like we're way out on a limb with this configuration at the moment. To throw optimism at it, yeah, maybe our goalie whisperer will find a gold nugget here.

The 9 seasons comment was good, have to admit.

We had one and we decided to sign a goalie for 8 years who's going to turn 30. Smart asset management. I get the trade because of the free agent signings but you may have wanted to wait to see if your team would be any good before moving your best asset.
