Fabbro - signed in March, put on waivers and lost.
Askarov - still on ELC when we bring in two more goalies then trade him away.
Wedgwood - the guy brought in as the backup that helped push Askarov to that decision. Traded away.
Tomasino - Signed just before camp then traded for a late round pick in 2027.

What the self-molesting hell is Trotz doing?

Hard to understand moves that directly contradict themselves and the supposed plan he laid out at his inauguration.

The Predators are holding an optional practice today.

On the ice: Justus Annunen, Michael McCarron (IR), Juuso Pärssinen, Zach L’Heureux, Luke Evangelista, Fedor Svechkov, Marc Del Gaizo, Adam Wilsby, Nick Blankenburg

Clearly the vets have nothing they need to focus on. Or help the kids work on.
Their roster spots and ice time are secure. Why would they?

I seriously hope theyre having some sort of leadership meeting otherwise this is just disgusting.

Pretty much everyone does. We clearly have no one in the org who can evaluate young talent and their NHL readiness. It’s funny because this move itself is actually good in a vacuum but what it demonstrates about the broader roster building is terrible.
I think GMBT is gonna burn it all down but do it his way. He has traded/waived some young talent for what? Look at the young talent on those new teams. Does BT care... no. I really think he thinks he is untouchable and can do what he wants with no consequences.

That should tell Trotz everything he needs to know about where his problem is. Disgusting that not even the Captain showed up.

Look it's an optional skate I get it, but the kids making it and the vets skipping looks hella bad given the state of the team and the current situation.
It looks bad because not a single one showed up. You would expect at least your leaders would be there but none of them showed up either.

Maybe the vets are making up that U2 concert today instead?

I’d honestly strip the C and A’s off and give them to ZLH, Luke and whoever plays next game between Pars and Svech.

I get it’s optional but when Trotz talks about a country club atmosphere and the team is sucking, optional shouldn’t mean optional. It should mean everyone showing up and fixing what’s broken.

Coach Saban once made a similar remark about players attending "optional" off-season workouts. Basically, the player has the option of whether or not he attends, and the coaching staff has the option of how much playing time that player gets. Unfortunately the second part of the equation doesn't seem to be a problem under our current coaching staff's approach.

Captain should probably be on the ice more than 8 to 9 mins a game

I get at some point the "grind" will get to some of the players, especially the veterans, and taking the occasional night off will make sense, and probably help them play better next game.

We're only 25 games in, however. A few guys may legitimately have some bumps and bruises they're better off resting to heal. But there isn't really any excuse for essentially EVERY veteran player to skip out.

In a way, it could also send a bit of a message? If one or two guys skip without a good reason, um, ok, says something about them maybe (maybe not). If every single veteran on the team skips? Does it say something about the team as a whole... which is then on the coach and GM? You can't trade 15 guys, so does that show of solidarity say something? :dunno:

Good thing Trotz spent so much changing up the team identity. :thumbu:

It certainly doesn't leave one to give a Stamkos crabbing about things behind the scenes and players not pulling their weight much credence.

Then again, all the vets not showing up, maybe it's a coup attempt?

I've long harped on feeling this team has lacked the character that used to define them ever since the C was passed on to Josi.

f***ing IR McCarron attended today, of all players. Good for him. Disappointed to not see Sissons' name listed.

The fact that Smith wasn’t there too surprised me. You’d figure “the hardest working guy” on the team would be there.
