Are you referring to Bruno’s quote after the game? I was puzzled by it too. I want to see him more but I can’t play him in a tight game.

At some point, the kids have to learn how to play in tight games.
Yeah, that's the point at which I have a sit-down with Bruno and either explain some hard truths to him about what the state of the season actually means, or hand him a pink slip.

More to the point, it really does show just how ingrained the whole "kids are wrong and vets are right" mentality is. Why can't you play the kids in a tight situation? If they're delivering results, they're delivering results; let them deliver results. Yes, they'll make mistakes, but they're in a phase where they're supposed to be learning from that. They're kids, not established vets; they can still learn to do better.

<Makes Ben Kenobi hand wave gesture>

"Matt Duchene was not the culture change you were looking for."

Only way you learn to play in tight games is to play in tight games. This season is toast, if there was ever one to throw the young guys out there in any situation imaginable this is the one. Problem is Brunette thinks he can actually still save this season.
It's not the season he's trying to save, it's his own ass.

He knows Trotz is patient enough if he can win few these next couple of weeks he will survive the season

He might not be the only one who thinks that. :dunno:

I've been wrong about crazier things before, but to me this looks pretty much done-for - my expectation is that if the vets and newcomers do finally shake things out and start to gel, it'll come far too late.

I think things will look better as time goes on, but the real playoff teams will start ramping up so that will pretty much negate most of it.

Preds Pravda putting out bovine excrement.

Get him the F*** away from our team then. Because its clear that him and Trotz arent even on the same page. What happens if Trotz says "f*** it were rebuilding" and calls up a bunch of kids to play and Bruno is still acting like they have a shot to make it and only plays them six minutes a night? And were offense-starved, why would you break up the kid line thats actually making things happen?

I dont get it.

That was kinda the gist of my previous posts about those theee agents requesting for them to be traded.

They are relatively dime a dozen type young players who don't have a ton of leverage when it comes to demanding a trade ... the team might choose to move on from them but that will more likely be a Trotz decision.

Most likely - They'll get qualified and their options then become hold out hoping for a trade, seek offer sheets, or look overseas.

Evangelista still has around 30 games of waiver exemption. I would be in favor of sending him and Svechkov back down to Milwaukee. I think that'll be better for them. Zack McEwen on waivers right now would be a pretty good fit for our team.

Tomasino and Parssinen MIGHT clear waivers. We could try to send out a fax to the rest of the league offering them around for a draft pick first. But then once nobody replies, we'll know it's safe to send them down too. Hinostroza has definitely earned a recall.

I mean if I'm them I just play the long game again like Columbus did and claim them on waivers rather than giving up a draft pick. Trotz has already been shown to be dumb enough to do it once.

Yes, the secret is other NHL teams don't even use fax machines anymore, so they'll never even know they were offered, hence the players will indeed end up on waivers instead.

You know (pointing to head), but you still don't know (pointing to heart).
I've never had to experience a forever rebuild at the basement, but the Kings were a really bad team for like 6-7 seasons there. And despite them actually trading legit good young players (Cammaleri and Frolov were both young 30g scorers) rather than fringe guys, this feels worse. I'm not seeing the plan.

As I've said elsethread, I thought I knew the plan, but he's undermining what I thought it was as we speak, so. :dunno:

But if it truly is as bad as we all fear... then this is merely the opening act.

What it would appear is we all (the fans) thought we were already X far toward a rebuild if the org pivoted that direction, but in Trotz's mind we haven't even started laying the groundwork yet and all that stuff we thought we had stocked up is actually just trash. I doubt we see anybody we currently have outside of maybe Molendyk and ZLH to emerge. There's a very rough path ahead.

A team that went all-in during the summer is in turmoil and a bottom-five team in the league and this is stuff we get from our media guys?

I mean, there's something to be said for having neat things to smile about during tough times, but when that's done to the excusion of everything else something is very wrong.
