Not a bad read. Apparently thinks the guys were trying to be something they weren't, were forcing things too much.

This makes sense, would explain the lack of chemistry and not even being able to pass/receive the puck.

The last two games they looked like they should have from the beginning. Alot more flow, the passing looked better, the attack looked better. If Josi or McCarron finishes off their chances in the later stages of the third, they walk out of Colorado with two points.

With Pittsburgh blowing it up do we go after Malkin? I mean, we're all in, he still has tread on his tires and he fills an immediate need. No clue what a trade looks like and how we fit his salary in but if we have close to $6 million right now, move Novak for him straight up?

I don't have any particularly high opinion of Novak or his long-term usefulness to our team. So I'm not against offering him for Malkin. Even with Malkin's age, I'm ok throwing that Hail Mary attempt.

However, I think there are a lot of teams around the league who would love to add a top center, and Malkin's pricetag would be A LOT higher. Plus he has an NMC, so if he's willing to leave Pittsburgh at all (which I doubt) then he probably wants to win? So would waive only to go to a real contender? :dunno:

Don't disagree about him wanting to go to a contender. On the flip side, how many contenders have the cap space to go after him without blowing up some of their roster? And while we may not be a contender, does adding him up our chances significantly and get more out of our top players? I'd throw Novak and a 1st out there and see what they think.

I think if Pittsburgh would give Malkin for Novak straight up you have to take it.

I only go after Malkin if the cost is nothing more than the "spare parts" that Bruno doesnt care much for like Novak. I may also be talked into adding a 2nd round pick or some surplus B prospects but no 1sts round picks or recent high end prospects

But he has a full NMC and i dont see why he would waive to go to a team that is currently dead last in the standings 16 games into the season.

Surprised it's Wilsby. But the organization does seem to value guys "paying their dues", and he has paid his. Plus we're just looking at a guy who can be a competent #6/7, so it's good to see Wilsby get his chance. Next year he'd be on waivers or might want to think of heading back to Sweden, so I like giving him a look.

Too bad it doesn't mean that Stastney is ready to return, however. I'm a little surprised they didn't want to go the RD route with Blankenburg.

I think they consider Lauzon to be the spare RD, since he has played both sides before. I'm waiting for them to trade Carrier so they can move Lauzon to RD and then they're only one player away from the perfect all-LHD lineup!
