I'm not optimistic the draft is going to be any less depressing

No worries. Svechkov will be 2nd line center for 2 mins before we wedge sissons back up there.

This team is so desperate to be "hard to play against" that we are actually icing Englund.... just makes me sad

This. Exactly. I’m usually pumped with 2 weekend home games after a 2 week break. Even when we were a bubble team in previous years at this point in the season, I’d have optimism and hope.
I don’t have that right now and trying to find reasons not to go to either game.
I hate this feeling.

Moneypuck has us at 0.2% to make the playoffs and 8.7% for the 1OA pick.

I'm thinking us putting guys in the lineup that other teams literally gave us for free might be our push to pass Chicago in the race to the bottom. SJ will be hard to catch and they've already started their garage sale.

Conversely the Preds have given up the useful players. It's almost like Trotz thinks all the GMs give up useful players through waivers.

I sold my tickets and watched it on TV. Also selling my tickets today. I hate it, but I'm treating these games like pre-season games. I don't attend those either, but I look for individual performances as signs of hope. Last night, it was Barron and Saros. Barron is showing some life. Keep playing him, and let him be offensive. Juuse "answered the critics" as Willy commented on the air. One game does not make an answer, but we'll take it. I would have never given Saros this contract, but we're stuck with it, so we need him to find his form. Last night was a start.

Each win brings mixed feelings. I can't bring myself to root against them, but the reality of giving away draft positions is depressing.

Please fast forward to mid-April.
