On a side note, it always blows my mind looking at other teams GDTs and they’re like 10-15 pages.

A reminder that the Canes forum is the best on this site...
IT’S NOT ABOUT QUANTITY - TORONTO HAS 92 PAGES ON GDT AND 20 OR MORE ON POST GAME.

IT’S ABOUT QUALITY - DUMB JOKES, HAVING CHARACTERS, THE ABILITY TO GO OFF-TOPIC AT ALL TIMES, THE ABILITY TO DO WITHOUT NO POLITICS TAGS.

Man, I went over there to lurk and see if anything was left. I saw his name and now I feel like I have a song stuck in my head, except instead of a song it's Shoresy chirping Reilly and Jonesy.

But really guys, let's be cool.
I MADE A DEAL WITH 82 (PRETTY MUCH THEIR AMBASSADOR IN TERMS OF CANES-PREDS RELATIONS) THAT OUT OF MUTUAL RESPECT THE WINNER LETS THE LOSER MOURN.

So yeah. Either way I am not going there until the next series start.

I got a gripe with only two of their players anyway. The other one is Duchene. It’s a national team thing.

Is it just me or does Haula look like a very good player (in this series, anyway)? Seems night and day from when he was here.

He actually was very good here early on. His knee flared up on him though and he wasn't the same after that when he came back. Looked terrible in FL last year too. He's clearly got some disdain for us and is very motivated and yeah I'd say he's looked solid this series but there are still concerns about his knee and consistency. I wish him no ill will at all after this series. Happy with Tro.

I wouldn't say really good, but that's a subjective term to begin with so there's always going to be different standards. Be he definitely looks like a good player that's far more engaged than he was at any point here after he returned from that injury he had about halfway through last season.

Necas said he took his chance because he was frustrated that nothing was happening for the first 10 minutes of the 3rd. I am really hoping in the next game that the Cane who attempts a shot or gets into Nashville's zone has a little more back up for a rebound or support for a chance at keeping it their end. How many times was it 4 yellow shirts and one solo Cane?

Nashville legitimately plays great team D. They force a lot of low-danger passes and frustrated chips up the boards. Last night it was in full evidence for about 20 minutes of play. There was just no opportunity to be had until Necas turned on the jets and caught a guy flat footed. I’m impressed that they’re getting this level of defensive performance out of that roster.

This is also where having Slavin helps tilt the ice in so many subtle ways. He’s no offensive dynamo, but he’s really has a talent for calmly dissecting a forecheck. I’m not sure we get to OT in that game if he had been scratched again.

TT shared in a recent interview that Necas has learned some Finnish so he can joke around with him and Aho.

Nice to see that core group bonding.

His English is also really strong these days. A couple of years ago he was understandable but still made a lot of the usual mistakes like forgetting to put an article before his nouns. Now he sounds more or less fluent and even the accent is fading a bit.

Agreed 100%. I liked him when he was here, don't know what happened behind the scenes, but have heard enough to understand why he was traded.

Can we stop booing him, though? He's eating it up, and it's helping him play better. If I'm in his shoes, it's much more fun to be booed than forgotten. If a guy has a bone to pick with his former team, it's better to just let the players give it right back to him. And maybe find an extra ripe pair of gloves to jam in his face.

I think Haula certainly is putting a performance for the ages if his goal this offseason is to be a Boston Bruin. They certainly could use the center help if Krejci leaves as a UFA, and emerging as a heel is a good way to get those guys to lick their chops.

Also, though, he's a bitch.

Maybe I am looking into this way too much, but I could absolutely see Necas being a future captain of this team. Learning Finnish to joke around with Aho and Turbo? This story about him walking the aisle on the flight before being sent to Charlotte his first year over here? And my God, the goals last night and active shit talking to the Nashville bench after he tied it?

Can't really quantify it, but the kid has it. And this team rallies around him. He's a lightning rod that should provide a great spark to whatever team he is on. And, for added bonus, he's a really, really good hockey player.

I FIND UNLIKELY FOR KREJČÍ TO EVEN LEAVE, BUT IF HE SIGNED HERE IT WOULD BE A WET DREAM.

I think the Red Wings would be Krejci's best choice if he left. They have regal amounts of cap space to lock him into a high-dollar, short-term deal, and if any team needs veteran leaders that can actually produce at a high level, it's Detroit.

Or sign with Washington and be the yappy bitch of a sidekick to Wilson every night

I still don't think I hold any grand ill will towards Haula. He's been a bit of a prick in the games. Even John and Pierre were talking about how there clearly was something left over between Necas and Haula from the time here. But I think he's look pretty good, been pretty effective, and if he was on my team, I'd probably love it. I still remember fondly how much of a smug prick Cole was his rookie season in the playoffs or perhaps a guy like Foegele the other year. If he played like this all of the time, I think Haula would be as in demand as he thinks he should be.

I've said this before, but upping the antics may well be upping his UFA value by more than the point totals ever did. The meathead culture among certain NHL GMs is still insanely strong.

FIVE YEARS LATER AND WITH STAAL GONE? I COULD SEE THAT, BUT I’D SAY AHO IS AHEAD OF HIM IN THAT LINE.

SLAVIN IS TO ME THE FOREVER “A” MATERIAL. HE’S PALADIN, NOT A COMMANDER.

Necas is a great kid, beloved by all, great stories about his character... and Haula has lingering beef with him? Ok

You guys used to say the same about Jordo...I'd trust Brindy when it comes to the leadership hierarchy, and there's likely a reason why Aho doesn't have the "A" yet. Jordo, Slavin, and Martinook seem like the locker-room leaders here. To me, whenever Staal retires or leaves as a UFA, Slavin's likely his successor.

Certainly could just be Haula thought Necas was a good target to pick on and nothing more. They just said they thought it was more from when he was in Carolina. They might have something approaching inside info.

UNLIKELY. KREJČÍ HAS A FAMILY IN US. TWO KIDS, US WIFE. HOUSE IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

A FAMILY MAN WHO KNOWS HIS PRICE AND HAS WON ON THE HIGHEST STAGE AIN’T PICKING DETROIT.
