You guys have no idea how big this is for your city and the entire country. In the US, PK might actually become one of the face of the league.

What a trade! Poille is a genius. Forsberg, Johansen and Subban all acquired through trades!

In just over three years Poile has traded Erat and Latta for Forsberg, Jones for Johansen and Weber for Subban.

For all his faults, I challenge anyone to name me one GM in all sports leagues who has made as many or more big time deals than that in a similar period of time.

I will say I find it a little humorous that this is LITERALLY the only possible D-for-D trade Poile could have made involving Weber that INCREASED the Predators cap hit. Haha. He just traded the defender with the second-highest cap hit in the NHL for the defender with THE highest cap hit.

This is not an issue so long as Weber does not retire before the contract ends. If he does, though, it gets bad. Really, really bad:

Wowzer. That is somewhat scary. Depending on your cap and salary situation in the future, I could see a scenario where Nashville would be willing to re-acquire Weber and pay him to not retire.

Still, as a Sens fan, Subban frequently infuriated me but I always respected his talent. Weber's been a monster for ages but you win this trade hands-down.

You know what's sad? When you go to the NHL Network hoping to see some commentary on this trade (or Stamkos but they are showing some stupid top plays rerun show instead.

Still in shock, but the reaction to the trade is pretty fascinating- the Habs are getting DESTROYED by just about everyone- media and fans- over this trade. I haven't seen one person say the Preds lost this trade.........

Still can't believe it though......

It's going to feel weird watching a game and not seeing Weber out there. He has been my favorite player for a long time. I named my dog after the guy. I wish him all the best, and I will have to stop my petty dislike of the Canadiens.

With that said, Subban is something special. He fits more into the style and identity Poile is after. He is legitimately elite. He is younger.

I want to hug all of you right now.

Weird is the exact word I just used talking to 303 about this.

I know in my head this is good for the team(I hope) but I just wont know what to think without big #6 out there...

Nice trade guys... Look out west, Nashville is coming.

Also, how weird is it going to be to see Weber in a different uni? Didn't think he was ever going to leave.

On one hand, my heart feels sad. We have literally watched Weber grow up and he's been the most important player the franchise has ever had.

On the other hand, my brain is bursting with joy because, for my money, Subban is the best all around defenseman in the league. Unbelievable.

Need Subban jersey, NOW.

With Josi now his partner, you will forget all about Weber. And that isn't meant as a slight. Subban has never had someone that good defensively. He will be phenomenal now that he isn't carrying around the corpse of Andrei Markov.

Congrats guys.

I'm just disgusted at this trade, but hey, I now have a team to root for out West. You got better, younger, and you know, PK is PK. Going to be a beauty on a pairing with Josi.

I'm curious what the Power play will do now, it was always the Weber one-timer in the slot whenever possible. I'm sure they'll manage though. ;)

and everyone knew it and that's why it sucked.

time to try something different.

Feel bad for Shea with a new child(children?) and having to uproot... plus if the fanbase thinks the Habs got robbed he's going to be under the spotlight big time, and they aren't nearly as live and let live as we southern folk

This guy is an absolute beast in the playoffs. Being a Sens fan, some of his goals against us (and against other teams) were so timely they gave me chills. And it's just not the goals, it's the way he scores them, with authority. Some examples:
