What a trade! Poille is a genius. Forsberg, Johansen and Subban all acquired through trades!
This is not an issue so long as Weber does not retire before the contract ends. If he does, though, it gets bad. Really, really bad:
I will say I find it a little humorous that this is LITERALLY the only possible D-for-D trade Poile could have made involving Weber that INCREASED the Predators cap hit. Haha. He just traded the defender with the second-highest cap hit in the NHL for the defender with THE highest cap hit.
One of us, one of us.
Can I join the Preds bandwagon too?
It's going to feel weird watching a game and not seeing Weber out there. He has been my favorite player for a long time. I named my dog after the guy. I wish him all the best, and I will have to stop my petty dislike of the Canadiens.
With that said, Subban is something special. He fits more into the style and identity Poile is after. He is legitimately elite. He is younger.
I want to hug all of you right now.
On one hand, my heart feels sad. We have literally watched Weber grow up and he's been the most important player the franchise has ever had.
On the other hand, my brain is bursting with joy because, for my money, Subban is the best all around defenseman in the league. Unbelievable.
Need Subban jersey, NOW.
Still in shock, but the reaction to the trade is pretty fascinating- the Habs are getting DESTROYED by just about everyone- media and fans- over this trade. I haven't seen one person say the Preds lost this trade.........
Still can't believe it though......
I'm curious what the Power play will do now, it was always the Weber one-timer in the slot whenever possible. I'm sure they'll manage though.
That's exactly what I thought, even more exposure here to the growing Nashville hockey market, which is nothing short of awesome for the franchise and the city.Subban is going to take our already awesome market by its balls and bring it next level.
