NONE of the vets on this team jump out at me as being a leader of any impact. Skip this ceremony and focus on development. “Win now” is over. We don’t need no stinking captain!

I wouldn't give a Captain to this team, but if I had to choose one I'd say Shattenkirk.

Assistants to Kreider, Fast, Zuccarello, Staal

TBH, I think today's NHL is very much away from the whole Captain thing. IDK, if anyone else has been feeling this way, too, but I think the captaincy back before the 2012-2013 lockout had much more meaning to a team than it does now.

Two things for though. I dont think we need a captain yet and number two theres no way any of us knows who the captain should be without being in the dressing room. However, If we are going by on ice leadership and leading by example on the ice then I'm taking Fast as captain, Zuc and mcquaid as A's.

But as it looks now they all want to see how this turns out, and if the Rangers are in the playoff race or not by February.

The Rangers may not want Zucc. Zucc may not want the Rangers. Or they could agree on a new deal

I feel like they would want to give C to Staal out of obligation so I'm not fond of that idea. I'd just keep 4 A's: Kreider, Staal, Zucc and Shatty.

I've said it in the past if I were giving out a C for this team, it's going to Fast.

Does everything you want from a leader in terms of effort game in and game out. Has the same dedication to both sides of the puck in all three zones

of the others, I don't know. I'd like Skjei or Shattenkirk, and Fast

They are not going to give the C to anyone who is not going to be around to see the rebuild through. That eliminates a lot of guys.

Fast, maybe Kreider and Shattenkirk are possibilities. Skjei has enough on his plate this year. More likely, straight A’s this time around.
