NAHL 2017-2018 Thread

Does this mean Wilkes-Barre Scranton is leaving the NAHL? They have an ELITE team listed as well.

EHL Announces Teams in Each Division
BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) is pleased to announce the 2017-18 divisional structure for the Premier Division and the Elite Division.

PREMIER DIVISION (16 TEAMS)

Boston Jr. Rangers (Tewksbury, MA)
Connecticut Oilers (Hamden, CT)
Connecticut RoughRiders (Norwalk, CT)
East Coast Wizards (Bedford, MA)
New England Wolves (Laconia, NH)
New Hampshire Avalanche (Hooksett, NH)
New York Applecore (Brewster, NY)
New York Bobcats (Kings Park, NY)
Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (West Chester, PA)
Philadelphia Little Flyers (Aston, PA)
Philadelphia Revolution (Warwick, PA)
Total Athletics Seahawks (Hyannis, MA)
Valley Jr. Warriors (Haverhill, MA)
Vermont Lumberjacks (Burlington, VT)
Walpole Express (Walpole, MA)
Wilkes/Barre Scranton Knights (Pittston, PA)

For 2016-17 they had an NA3AHL team, which is absorbed into the EHL Elite division. They also had a dormant premier franchise from a few years back when they made the jump to the NAHL. With tryouts listed on the NAHL website it appears they will be fielding 3 junior teams. Sounds like stretching resources a little bit however it is possible.

I saw that as well. They might just be moving their Tier 3 teams from the NA3HL.

They never had a NA3HL team just NA3AHL, as somebody that played in both I can tell you- there is a big drop in skill from the 3 to the 3A.

I could be wrong but I believe that is just an April Fool's joke.

No NAHL relocation would be announced on a third party website first, the NAHL and team are the first to break official news.

Look at the link again it was clarified. Not all too funny but if it is what he chose to do so be it.

The Aston Rebels will officially change their name to the Philadelphia Rebels, and will be moving to the University of Pennsylvania Ice Rink starting next season.

Their lease contract with their rink in Aston was not renewed. They sent an email out to all of the billet families about 3 weeks ago notifying them of the move to UPenn Rink. I can tell you that all of their signs and ads at their rink have been removed. Not sure what the hold up is on the announcement from them or the league.

The NAHL schedule indicates the Rebels playing their home games at the IceWorks Skating Complex. Could it mean a revised schedule is forthcoming?

Quite honestly it would require to re-write approximately 28 home rink addresses 30 minutes down the road. Not exactly a hard task. As far as their opponents a 20 mile change shouldn't affect anything if it is done in a timely manner.

I know the Northeast Generals referred to them as the Philadelphia Rebels when posting their home schedule on their twitter. I believe the other teams in the division are already aware of the move.
