NFL: Myles Garrett has requested a trade

Not really a surprise. During his time, they took two big swings at QB. Neither worked out, and the second swing has also kneecapped the team. They need another rebuild cycle to replenish the talent holes created by the Watson trade.

He knows they have no hope of being a playoff team for the next couple of years.

I think the turnaround can be pretty quick because they do have several quality vets to trade, and most of the Watson cap money can be easily burned off over the next couple of seasons.

The problem is I'm not sure their owners are willing to go through another painful rebuild, especially when they're trying to get taxpayers there to give them a fancy new stadium.

Garrett and Wills their LT are their top 2 guys asset wise. I don't think D. Ward the CB with multiple concussions is going to fetch more than a mid round pick. See how deep they wish to go.

Garrett also has no more guaranteed money on his contract. So, that's also going to be factor and maybe one of the drivers of why he wants to move on.
 
I'd be more surprised if any player of note didn't want to be traded out of the Browns organization. Probably the most mismanaged team over the past few years, and I say that being aware that the Jets, Jags, and Bears exist.

This is also dependent upon the Browns not screwing it all up, which the past 25 or so years wouldn't give me a lot of confidence that they can do anything right
 
Too bad they would never trade him to Cincinnati because having Hendrickson on one side and Garrett on the other might be the only thing that could possibly mask that shitty defensive backfield.

What is the return on a 29 year old elite DE? Mack was moved after year 4 coming out of college as a RS SR. So, he was about 27. 2 firsts, a 3rd and 6th for Mack and a 2nd and cond. 5th.

Garrett will need a new deal that gives him guaranteed money over the next 2-3 seasons.

Wills has no value. He was great as a rookie but has never looked the same after suffering injuries in year two. He can be had for cheap in free agency soon.
 
Washington should inquire, that’s a big time pass rusher while Daniels is still on that rookie contract. Build around him now before you pay him the big money.

Might as well.
Realistically, a trade would look similar to the one LV got from Chicago for Mack. Either 2 firsts with other picks switching or it’s a straight 1st, 2nd and maybe a 3rd over 2 years. Like first and third in 25 and 2nd in 26.

it involves Garrett having to rework his contract THEN traded

I still say bills go for it.......... Just say FRANK it, and pay the fee.

Garrett is $36 mill in dead cap if no longer on the Browns roster. Since the draft occurs before June 1, Clev would have to eat the whole amount for 2025. Would have to redo the Watson deal to push some of the $73 mill cap charge to a future year.

I'm not sure what Garrett can do for the Browns as the dead money is what Clev has already paid him but have yet to take on their cap.

We've seen LA and TB make the PO with $70 mill in dead cap. Browns currently at $40 mill in dead cap mainly from Cooper and Smith.
