Game would've gone our way had there been a furry in the stands.
I think it had as lot to do with energy / stamina too - we looked good until the fuel ran low.I don't judge teams based on b2b games. Without rest you aren't all there. Having said that the jets were pretty good for the 1st and parts of the 2nd. The wheels came off because glycogen levels ran low. I have faith in the team I think they've earned it lol.
I don't think we really have any shut down D on this team - but we do have a shut down system as long as it's all 5 skaters working that system. There's a lot of teams that have faced adversity with injuries early in the season. It was bound to happen sooner than later. I thought Samberg was easily one of the 3 best Jets defensemen to start the year, so that's going to hurt. I don't think this game gave Scott Arniel much confidence in Haydn Fleury to step up, he was fighting it a bit out there I thought.
Miller did well to step up, with Pionk on his offside, but this one could have some impact. The only other shutdown LD on the team is Morrissey so we'll see how that affects the lineup.
I thought the Jets started well enough but as the game wore on legs weren't there. Happens on back to backs. Lowry's line was the only real pushback line from the 2nd period on. Loved their goal.
I didn't like that headshot by Nyqvist in any way, and I was surprised there was no response from anyone, it was fairly obvious.
Kelly Sutherland didn't do the Jets any favours either, but let's not go there.
On to Minnesota. Next man up. Is that next man Salomonsson?
I'd love to see Salo come up but im unsure where he would fit into the lineup. Isn't he a RD?There's a lot of teams that have faced adversity with injuries early in the season. Well I agree with what you say about defending as a 5 man unit in principle, from watching the games Samberg has taken on a key defensive role. I would that 90% of the time that Lowry's on the ice, it is either Morrissey-De Melo or Samberg-Pionk in that defensive role against top 6 players, often in the defensive zone. Then there is the PK where Samberg has been solid on the top unit. Big skates to fill, and tough break for the guy in a breakout year.I don't think we really have any shut down D on this team - but we do have a shut down system as long as it's all 5 skaters working that system.
Our best defense shows up when the team plays that game - we're more than capable of doing that at any time.
So now would be the time.
Based on what I see, we will sometimes struggle in our end regardless of the D pairing that is out there.
You will see less of it with JoMo because he drives a lot of offense - but if we get hemmed in due to a poor back check or less than enthusiastic Nzone play, we end up defending. We will sometimes point at the defenders (D) when this happens but when you break it down, it's the 5 man unit that is usually breaking down.
I'm hoping Arniel stresses this point - especially with Samberg out. We have a much improved offensive game but I'm seeing cracks in the D system that is a big part of our structure that allows us to be better offensively.
Boy he sure ripped a few good passes early in the game. Could have easily put the 1st goal on the board off those.Embarrassing performance by 55.
Reminded me of a few of his games 2-3 years ago where it was 50/50 if we should extend him or trade him and cut our losses.
Def not bashing scheif this game because sutherland is a corrupt p.o.s.This is why the analytics are misleading.
The first Preds goal Scheifele takes the man out in front of Comrie but its a seeing eye shot from the point 1-0 Preds. .. minus one for #55.
The 3rd Preds goal Morrissey pinches in and Preds are 2 on 1 break the other way Comrie stops it and rebound goes by 2 Jets onto Preds stick ... minus two for #55.
Empty net goal minus 3 for #55.
Scheifele also gets 3 minor penalties?
The Jets did not lose because of Scheifele but the analytics point to that direction.
It does but really any team can win a game once in a while or lose one.Back to back or not.
Losing to quite literally the worst team in the league is pretty shitty.
Could be perfect timingI guess if Ville is looking for an opportunity, the opportunity is finally there again
Haha truuuu. I was on a cruise ship last week and mostly drunk. You mean 2-2..
Yeah I noticed it looked like the top of the foot. It's better than the ankle at least.Arniel says its a broken foot
f***
Yeah this kid has to figure it out. I would have thought his end of last season would light a fire but he started slow, had a nice little run and has disappeared again.Perfetti has 2 5v5 points in the last 15 games. Some secondary scoring would be nice around now. Can’t have Scheifele and Connor winning every game for the Jets.
