Wow, my dad hung on to my first guitar, a Yamaha:

So many stickers.

Love it! I have one of those, different stickers tho lol

Yeah. Pretty much everyone tells me I should write for video games haha. I don't really write with an aim in mind, but that's just how it comes out.

The Tetris music in C-B-A order is amongst my favorite written pieces of all time, there is no lack of dignity in video game music, but the contrary and you do sound like you would do pretty well.

EG-112 ~2000/01, fantastic starter guitar. Surprisingly nice and smooth to play for a cheap guitar. Would definitely recommend it over a Squier for a beginner. Made learning a lot easier.

Yeah I was basically putting literally any sticker I found on it, hence the "Cavity-sealed Seal".

It looks like a killer soloist machine. What do you like best about it?

I don't even know where to start. .. guitar is gorgeous. .

The neck is like iron and the flat fretboard is FAST! The pickups are awesome. . Lots of tonal variations. .. the bridge is Ibanez top of the line ... I'm in shred paradise...

Read the product description in the link... this guitar is off the wall... I can't recommend it enough. ..

For people who like hi octane guitarwork

rickenbacker-4001-stereo-272774.jpg

(dunno if the pic is mine from years ago but I found it on google. Same bass, same floor at mom's house. Not sure if that's my toe lol)
Sometimes it loves to be played with a pick and sometimes it loves to be rapidly fingered :)

This is a purely fast and heavy, rock & roll bass.

Cost me the Uncle I never got to meet, Grandma decided I was the chosen one who would end up with it because all I ever wanted to do was play Hockey and Metal.

That's a hell of a nice bass. I've looked at Rics before, and that was the finish I wanted. Not so common.

For some reason it's not letting me upload the pic I took of my Pacifica from 2003, its definitely the same exact guitar tho and it is by far and away the best cheap guitar on the market. I still have mine, gone thru so many others (usually ESPs) but never got rid of my cheapo sentimental fav. Never will! New set of super slinkys few times a year and I think it still beats most guitars 3x its price!

Funny thing is its not like the SDGR 5 I had where you can pick it up without warming up and fly immediately, but once you get warmed up and used it, this thing is second to none. Almost alive or something.

I'll check out the specs on them, they're with my dad. The Gretsch is probably worth 1.5-3k on eBay, not nearly enough to justify selling it.

I was reading up on this company ReRanch's website, they sell supplies online. I think for my Tele it might be possible to just use a heat gun on the poly black finish, and then scrape it off while leaving the primer/sealer/whatnot that's on the wood, then just repainting it with a quality auto-paint spray can. We'll see...I'm just not should if I have enough well-ventilated space.

Using a heat gun to remove finish is a pain and a mess. Also not sure how you will leave any under coat intact, they bind to one another, otherwise the finish would just fall off. If it is the dip finish than that is probably a polyester finish, very hard to remove and very nasty but rock solid, most high gloss pianos and furniture are polyester finishes.
If you have shallow scratches and spots the finish has pulled up on, just clean it with mineral spirits then lacquer thinner really well. Then get feather fill at an auto body supply store. Feather fill spots and sand entire body to 320. Wipe down with denatured alcohol and then apply primer then finish.
If the scratches or whatever is on the deeper side just get bondo. When sanding bondo or feather fill, if you can feel it you will see it, block sand flat spots.
If you just want it to look better and not refinish, this is the way to go. Have fun:yo:

Wow thanks for the info, bud. I was kind of hoping the poly finish would somehow be easier to remove, but oh well. Apparently there is also some sort of chemical stripper to remove the poly, but I've heard...not great results. Plus I don't have a lot of space and would rather avoid hazardous chemicals as much as possible. It has about 3 small chips where the wood is exposed, each about 1/4"x1/8". I guess the sensible thing would be to just fill the spots and clean it up, maybe buy a new pickguard.

Here's a pic of the bod:

Been a drummer since I was in elementary school. Started out with one of those Ludwig Acrylic sets from the 70s - still have it in my parents attic.

Worked as a studio drummer a lifetime ago, on a handful of albums as stand-ins and whatnot. Out of highschool I tried to kick it as a drumtech with moderate success, but gave it up as I continued engineering school.

Bought a Tama Starclassic back in highschool, but also have accumulated a ton of other stuff.

While filling in for Testaments drum tech for an east coast tour, I was gifted a Pearl set which I've added onto my Starclassic making it a nice Portnoy-esque monster. I've built 4 octobans as well, and a use a massive amount of cymbals. From memory, my kit currently sits as following:

Left to right ([SC-starclassic][P-Pearl Export]) full rack, of course.
5inch octobans - 12-16-20-24 inch lengths (i think, anyway. Its been a while since I built em)
Octoban 1
Octoban 2
Octoban 3
Octoban 4
8in SC
10 SC
10 PE down tuned
12 PE
14 PE
16 SC
22 Bass

MP125 snare, original run, with the DT logos
Custom Starclassic snare, which I added last year having never had one. Built to my specs, 13inch.
5x12 inch Spaun Custom Acrylic snare
PE Snare that I've stripped and refinished.
Ludwig 8x14inch steel snare
one other I'm forgetting about, but I rotate all of these except the Spaun, which lives as a side snare perm.

Mostly Sabian cymbals, some MP staxx, but I'm a huge fan of Dream cymbals, and own a bunch of those. I've got a leftover Zildjian china I use with a Wuhan, but I've been migrating from Z to Sabian over the years, and will be migrating again to Dream exclusively eventually

..and im 100% forgetting other stuff.

kits at my parents currently, while I'm an apartment person. looking through my old photobucket, i dont really have many pics. heres a crazy old one before the octobans

Next time I'm around there, I'll take an updated pic.

Paul. And i was a fill in, since I was working with another band. Most of the time I was either setting up, running for beers, and not spending much time with any of them. It's only relevant since thats how I got the other kit!

edit: just noticing that pic was back when I thought I was really cool, and wouldnt play cross hand, and go lefty as a right hander. Such a doof idea thinking back on it. [noted by the right side hi-hats that dont exist any longer]

Sometimes during allergy season my nose gets a little clogged up and starts whistling so I pretend like I'm playing the flute.

So your vote for "--------------" was because it was your nose music transcribed? Had I known, it would've had my vote too.

Being Paul Bostaph's drum tech is something to tell grandkids :) He was a hero on the wall growing up!

That kit looks so tight and accessible, aside from the obvious killer overall appearance. Who are some of your fav drummers?

This model is the 30th anniversary of the Ibanez RG
It's only available for a limited time, you have to order it online

Ibanez has a great 2017 lineup... check them out

for like 30 hours  till they moved on to whatever the next city was

Mike Portnoy is and always will be my favourite guy ever. Met him at a McDonalds once and we BS'd about rudiments, and he used some straws to jam on a table.
Tre' from Green Day was who got me into drumming, from the dookie alb
Neil Peart, how could anyone not like him?
Janne Saarenpaa from The Crown was a guy who had the best feet I ever heard, some of his **** is amazing.

Cool thread :handclap:

I have few guitars and bass as well:

- 1997 Gibson Les Paul Standard with Bareknuckle The Mule pickups
- ESP GL-56
- ESP Custom Shop superstrat with Floyd Rose and Bareknuckle VH II-pickups
- Yamaha APX 1000 acoustic
- Sterling By Music Man SB14 bass

For amps:

- Marshall 2555 (black 1988 model) Jubilee 100w head
- Marshall JCM1C 1w small tubecombo, which I use at home
- Roland Microcube

Actually I came here just to ask some guidance; Me and my brother are visiting NYC in July for five days and will be staying at Bushwick, Brooklyn. Are there or in Williamsburg or Manhattan any nice rock clubs? I mostly listen to classic rock, Van Halen etc and Ramones types of stuff... and hate techo music ;)

Cheers from Finland :)

Might have to find one. There are normally a lot of underground bars that host stuff like that!! But off the top of my head....

Bowery Ballroom
Rockwood Music Hall (Stages 1, 2 and 3)
Le Poisson Rouge
Mercury Lounge
:)

If they are 1/8 inch deep?, go for bondo, less then a 1/16 feather fill will work. You could fill then put that vinyl that people put on cars. I think 3m makes it.
