These guys are sick, regret not seeing them live.

At The Drive In was pretty good but I was almost kinda glad they broke up. They started to get really annoying towards the end imo. I'm personally a bigger fan of Sparta than I was of At The Drive In and prefer Sparta to Mars Volta. I think those two guys' egos are as big as their afros once were. That record In Casino out has some really good songs on it, though. The first two songs on that record or awesome.

LOL! This makes my day... I currently live 60 minutes from Minneapolis and can pretty much see them any weekend. That said I'm not into hip hop at all so I usually don't, I could though so there

But the fact that someone mentioned them here makes me happy to see the Midwest music scene get some love.

That Death Metal Friday makes me think of Danny Filth and for that... I love it!!!

Fauser your wife is a saint. Beatles, old Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, early Aerosmith (Toys in the Attic) early Alice Cooper (Billion Dollar Babies) all deserve a listen. Queen was outstanding. Freddy Mercury that boy could wail! I met Brian May outside the Fabulous Forum before an Aerosmith/Cheap Trick show. That dude is TALL.

Now my wife, she turned me on to Andrea Bocelli. I'll listen if it gets me what I want

My first concert Alice Cooper on the Billion Dollar Babies tour at the Forum, (May of 1972) although the Schools Out album was great too as were the 2 albums before that.


Saw Aerosmith twice in about 2yrs time. Once at the Forum and the other at the Santa Monica Civic the night they recorded Chip away (at the Stone) for their Live: Bootleg album.

Get your wings and Toys are their best albums. Seasons of Wither was a local favorite in high school

I am reasonably certain that the hearing loss I've experienced over the past few years is directly related to those two shows and a few choice others (KISS w/ Montrose opening (Sammy Hagar's early band) UFO and Rush atthe Civic and Ted Nugent

I saw ATDI play too many times I think. i just got burnt out on them I guess. I saw them play at th PCH club in Wilmington right before that CD came out and they were about to get big. That was a great show. I remember seeing them at the Glasshouse with Gameface when they had just put out In Casino out and there was like 100 people there, if that. I think Gameface even headlined the show.. haha! Then like a year later they were the coolest thing since sliced bread.

I think I've only seen Sparta once and that was at the Troubadour I think.

Never managed to see ATD-I. Though I have seen Sparta once and the Mars Volta twice. Alternate Jersey, I definatley understand where your coming from. I remember both times I saw Mars Volta there were parts of the set that I felt the whole crowds interest die because the band were masterbating their instruments.

That first Sparta album was great. I would buy that again. I remember Porcelein was somewhat lacking. Seemed to get softer. Maybe I just didnt get into it.

When I saw Trail of Dead I thought it was the ****. Multiple Guitarists. EVeryone swapping Instruments. Blood. Guitarists Jumping into large containers of Rubbish and then the crowds drinking water

Ive never seen an international band more than Muse. The first time I saw them I hitch hiked 800 Klm, half Queensland to see them. I also had a bag of special cookies which made it quite difficult to converse with the two lovely couples that picked me up. I fell asleep in the car with the second couple and they woke me up in Brisbane. Im glad im not 19 anymore.

He's seen them twice in his short life, once in Las Vegas with his best friend and that kid's mom. I love my kid but taking to him Las Vegas for Frozen fury is enough. Im not schleppin him to vegas for concerts, too.

I saw them in concert here in LA. They were amazing!

Yeah, I'm a lucky guy. Freddie Mercury, man, I just can't believe how epic his voice was. Another great voice my wife turned me on to was Karen Carpenter. I think this right here is one of the best pure pop songs ever.

I got started in photography shooting concerts. I have been to over 500 easily. I've seen 311 75+ times and Incubus 45+ times...so, it must be well over 500 concerts total....anyhow, At The Drive-In was the best concert I have ever seen.

The energy and musicianship was outta control. This was right after Relationship of Command came out. The next time I saw them was the month they broke up. That show was just as insane but, more of a downer because you could tell they didn't want to be there at that point.

Just the same, most intense energy band.

Other bands that have come real close with bringing that energy live: Incubus in 1998 (S.C.I.E.N.C.E. tour), These Arms Are Snakes (the last two years before they split), and Thursday (Full Collapse tour). Just balls out all over the stage and in the fans' faces craziness.

Mars Volta just needs to work with Rick Rubin more. Omar doesn't know how to edit down the songs for album play right. All those parts are fun live but, it gets tiresome listening to it live. They need Rick to tell them which parts to leave off the album to keep the songs from losing their cohesion.

The newest album is pretty great. Omar has come a long way since their second album. But, it still needs some work. The first track should not take ****ing two minutes for the music to start up. That's just obnoxious. It's not artistic and suspense building or whatever he was going for.

Although I feel a humiliation trap, Karen Carpenter was a beautiful vocal. Another pure voice was Anne Murray. Please don't make fun of me .

That was an interesting musical time period with a lot of singer songwriters like John Denver, Jim Croce, James Taylor etc., yet some great Rock and Roll. Led Zeppelin, Derek & the Dominos, Bruce Springsteen and one of my all time favorites, Rare Earth.

Absolutely love the velvet underground and that was a great pull. Sweet Jane, Heroine all of their good stuff was really good.

I got The Damned, greatest hits awhile back and enjoyed it allot.

I like Evan Dando's work throughout the 80's.

Mentioning the Velvet Underground made me remember how much I liked some of Bauhouse and Tones on Tail which lead me to The Leaving Trains and Morphine. All of that drippy sweet sustain and passionate music was great for a change of pace.

Also on a different note anything ever written or performed by Dirt McGirt aka New Baby Jesus, Big Baby Jesus, Ol Dirty *******. ODB etc. I am not too into hiphop/rap but that guy was something else.

I am really liking City of Caterpillar, thanks for the headsup on that one.

If we're going down that road add Carole King and Joni Mitchell in too.

And although hers was not a "pretty" voice, if your going for female vocalists of that era NO LIST is CLOSE TO COMPLETE if it doesnt include Janis Joplin.
