We were introduced to a gent that he claimed is a friend of Billy Connolly, don't know if anyone here knows him, anyways, could have even been him, sounded like him, looked like him coming from a cave.lol. Didn't know this but he was in a band with Gerry Rafferty called '' Humblebums '' before Rafferty went solo.

Sounds like a fine tune.

And Rafferty's biggest hit?

Always loved Baker Street. Great tune. Loved the horns, and guitar solo. Good stuff.

Also love the idea of this thread, with the ability to express our thoughts via music. Sounds fun. :)

Oh turn off the TV
It's killing us we never speak
There's a radio in the corner
It's dying to make a scene

So give me soft, soft static
With a human voice underneath
And we can both get old fashioned
Put the brakes on these fast, fast wheels

Oh let's get old fashioned
Back to how things used to be
If I get old, old fashioned
Would you get old, old fashioned with me?

Put the wall clock in the top drawer
Turn off the lights so we can see
We will waltz across the carpet
1 2 3 2 2 3
So give me the soft, soft static
Of the open fire and the shuffle of our feet
We can both get old fashioned
Do it like they did in '43

Oh let's get old fashioned
Back to how things used to be
If I get old, old fashioned
Would you get old, old fashioned with me?

So give me soft, soft static
We won't need no electricity
If we both get old fashioned
We won't have to rely on our memories

Oh let's get old fashioned
Back to how things used to be
If I get old, old fashioned
Would you get old, old fashioned with me?

The town where she was born
Like town where I was born
Was built by white settlers seeking gold and other treasures
Like me she feels uncomfortable in the clothing of her ancestors
"It's not easy" she would say
Putting her fingers in the ashtray
"It's not easy to erase your blood"

Rock me now
Hmm, sing with me
In the arms of cobwebs
Roll me out
In the arms of cobwebs

Once she found a man to treasure
And together they'd planted flowers of warning, fearing frost
Late on shallow evenings while their enemies slept
They hammered the soil asking for answers in green
His value declined when he offered his name
Why did he offer it

His value declined
Ah ah ah ah ah
When he offered his name
Ah ah ah ah ah

His value declined
Ah ah ah ah ah
When he offered his name
Ah ah ah ah ah

When she was seven years old she saw a man get shot but
No one came along for a long time because it happened in a remote parking lot in Las Vegas
And she was waiting for her mom to come back from working the blackjack table at the Circus Circus casino
And that night her mom said that the two of them and the now dead guy
Were the only 3 people who ever lived in Las Vegas.
Everybody else just arrived, ate their complimentary shrimp cocktails, and left

Rock me now
In the arms of cobwebs
It's a one room city, yeah
It's a one room city, yeah
So can you roll with me
Roll me out
In the arms of cobwebs
It's a one room city, yeah

His value declined
Ah ah ah ah ah
When he offered his name.
Ah ah ah ah ah

It's a one room city, yeah
It's a one room city
The wall to wall to wall to wall to wall
Goes to street to street to street

Must have heard this song hundreds if not thousands of times yet did not know that it's done by the famous Irish actor!

What a cover! if you think it sounds like the Scorpions,it is! a project from the 70's.

And some early brilliance from the young ingenious Jan Akkerman.

Always enjoyed this one :)

Hello there, recent developments have seen the jazz world split in two, by a new wave of musicians calling themselves "disc jockeys." Those in favour describe the phenomena as a fresh rush of blood in the aging corpse of music. Those against, prefer the term "emperors new clothes"

Tonight you may judge for yourselves as we bring you "The Propellerheads", who together with the legendary Shirley Bassey, play their arrangement, "History Repeating"...

One of my favorite songs from one of the greatest movies of all time , they don't make movies like that anymore i'll tell ya

By watching and listening to this you wouldn't realize this is one of the funniest movies of all time. Seriously is there another instrument that can express emotion more than the violin? Beautiful, heart strings indeed!

Hey, hey....

Hey!! Changes, changes
Hey, and everyone a run come look
Yes, oh yes We've got changes
changes, changes
A little bit of peace, that's what it took

Finally, we're talking again
Together again, down memory lane
Finally, we're smiling again
Together again, sunshine or rain
We will maintain

In the light, there's no darkness
In the light, there's no darkness
In the light, there's no darkness
So why not live the life we love
And love the life, the life we live?
The life we love! yeah

Hey, changes, changes
Yes, and everyone a run come look
Yes, oh yes, we've got changes, changes, changes
A little bit of care, that's what it took

Naturally, nature is calling
And I hope that you're willing
To live and let's live, yeah
Naturally a true sense of freedom
With no referendum
Just live and let's live, let's live

In the light, there's no darkness
In the light, there's no darkness
In the light, there's no darkness
It's best to live the life we love
And love the life, the life we live
The life we love!

Hey, changes, changes
Hey, and everyone a run come look
Yes, oh yes, we've got changes, changes, changes
A little bit of sharing, that's all it took

This is a vision (x9)
A vision, a sweeter, a brighter tomorrow

I've been a fan of blink-182 for well over 20 years. Probably since 1999 when I first saw the What's My Age Again videos on Musique Plus. I don't want to say that I've grown out of them, but I definitely don't listen to them nearly as much as I used to.

When Tom DeLonge left the band a few years ago, and was replaced by Matt Skiba, I thought that was great. I've been a big Alkaline Trio fan for a long time, and I thought that Skiba's voice added a lot to blink. Especially since Tom has been unbearable to listen to for the better part of the last two decades.

Tom wanted back in, so Skiba left (and he knew the position in the band was always going to be temporary, so whatever). A lot of people were excited, so good for them.

A few months ago they announced a new tour, and there was a show in Montreal. I was somewhat interested until I saw the prices. My sister, if I'm not mistaken, paid about $300 per ticket and she wasn't sitting in the reds or on the floor. Yikes. Whatever, she was happy. I figured I'd keep an eye out for cheap tickets as it got closer to the show and scalpers realized they may not be able to sell for the insane prices they were asking for.

A couple of weeks ago, I happened to see that blink would be performing at Coachella and that it would be livestreamed. I watched a couple of minutes of the stream, and was really put off. The band sounded f***ING TERRIBLE. Tom's voice is just so bad, and I couldn't imagine having to sit through a whole show of that. I immediately decided I wouldn't even bother looking for cheap seats, and I feel like I would've passed on free tickets if they were somehow offered to me.

I'm still going to listen to the songs of theirs that I do like, but I can't, for the life of me, understand how anyone could listen to what Tom DeLonge sounds like now and enjoy it. I know people do, so good for them. I'm happy that they're happy. It's just kind of a weird feeling that one of the bands that helped get me into the music I am into today, are just not something I can see myself ever enjoying again. I selfishly would love for Tom to go off and try to hunt aliens again, so they could bring back Matt Skiba and I could enjoy the band, but I know that that's unlikely to happen.

I know that this rant is pretty pointless, but it is the music thread so it felt appropriate.

Here's one of my favourite Blink songs that doesn't get a lot of attention (and funnily enough, it's a Tom song)
