My youngest was playing one of her video games and in the background a song was playing & it caught her ear, so she looked it up.

She thought she was introducing me to a new type of music, so sweet, lol.

I brought up my YT playlist of sea shanties and she started adding them to her Spotify account.

My personal favourite, I’ve probably posted it before:

Edit: Not a true Sea Shanty, but my kids all loved this fun Canadian classic:

Bless her heart. Play this one for her, surely you have farm cats about:

Then drift out of shanties to this...

I was fortunate enough to travel to Eastern Canada a couple of times during Kilt's heyday on the east coast. I've never had any problem bending an elbow but they made it a wee bit easier...

Okay, so, the genre is "trip-hop". My friend, a music teacher, describes its trademark 5:4 signature as "walking on a sidewalk with one foot while the other foot goes down the curb".

W/E it may be, this song is damn amazing. And video game aficionados of course recognize this and Ashley Barrett aand Darren Korb and Supergiant Games and yes, I said what I said.

I’m a bit of a metal head… love Maiden, AC/DC, Crüe..grew up on it… but I suppose I’m a hick at heart…. Grew up in Miami MB in the early 80s and there was always a AM country radio on in the kitchen… there is nothing more soothing and reminds me of home than the sound of Don Williams…and this song…

Some '90's nostalgia.

First up is Matthew Sweet with "Sick of Myself" released in 1995. He had an earlier hit with "Girlfriend" in 1991. You might be thinking, "I don't know Matthew Sweet" but listen to the song Girlfriend and you'll go, "Oh yeah, I know that song"

Next up is School of Fish who had a moderate hit with "3 Strange Days" and then were never heard from again.

Last up is the Sneaker Pimps. Probably the most "Whaaat?' song in this post. But once you hear it, you'll probably have some memory of it.
