I think this song has been posted a couple of times with the Elvis version, but it was originally done by Tony Joe White. This is the version that is closest to the Elvis version, but there is an earlier version of Tony singing it in black and white. It's a bit shorter. There's also a video of Tony and Johnny Cash singing it together.
The "Everybody Hurts" video by R.E.M. is an homage to the opening scene of the Federico Fellini film 8 1/2. Not to be confused with 9 1/2 weeks
. I only know that because I took a film studies course in university. Hey, I liked watching movies and it sounded like an easy course, and it was. If you ever need a course to boost your GPA take an Intro to Film course. But, I did like the Fellini film also. One can use that tidbit of knowledge to either impress folks or further alienate them.
And Leon Bridges reminds me so much of Sam Cooke
This is a great album from Sam, live at the Copa, with his take of Blowing in the Wind
