I don't mean to get off on a rant, but...

Went to my first game of the year on Thursday, and discovered to my horror that not only is Freshii still featuring that damnable Teriyaki (spit) bowl, but also Bella Pasta is gone and replaced by the completely inappropriately named Zingers. There was nothing even remotely zingy about the butter chicken bowl my wife and I shared. Bland and under-seasoned. Sure, they had some hot sauces but my wife doesn't like those. I settled on trying to find some salt and pepper packets. Like, how hard would it be to set out some S&P containers on all of those eating counters they have throughout the concourse? No, I had to hunt down a Jets Dog condiment bar to find them ffs.

And the only reason she got the butter chicken was because the Reuben Grilled Cheese that she originally planned to order had kimchi on it instead of sauerkraut. That's not a friggin' Reuben, that's someone being too clever by half. The Reuben's a classic, you don't **** with classics.

The final pet peeve was learning they now have a bag size restriction. I measured my wife's purse and it was close enough to the limit that I didn't want to risk having some officious little martinet drunk on the power of saving the world from over-sized handbags forcing her to respect his authoritah and turn it in for storage (at a $3 charge). So, we end up hunting around for an old purse to throw her game essentials into. Christ, what a PITA.

It's like every year, they have to find something new to make the game experience more annoying to people.

:soap:
Life is a grind. Don't let the kimchi hold you back.

Preach brutha! LOL.

That out of the way I will marginally defend TNSE on the purse issue in that they aren't any different than the Twins or the Vikings and are probably more lenient than either of those organizations. Still a pain regardless.

Each year I have to remember to take my tiny key chain sized Swiss army knife off because those aren't allowed either. They are allowed on aircraft (again, they weren't for quite some time - I know I sacrificed 3 over the years) but not in the arena. For what it's worth pointing out to security that it is easier to hurt someone with your thumb than it would be with one of those tiny little knives does not go over well:confused:

Big purses are not for sporting events. The ones worn on the back hit people every time the woman turns.

I hear you. I've had a battle with True North over the metal detectors since they brought them in and get this over a wallet. My wallet has a zipper that sets off the metal detector. I try and put it in the tray with phone and keys and about 70% of the time no problem. But the other 30% what a pain. Some tell me I have to keep it with me and it sets the detector off and they wand search me. So than I sometimes keep it and it sets it off and they get mad saying if you know it's going to set it off put it in the tray. I had one guy search my wallet and he spilled my credit cards and money on the floor. When I talk to the head of security about the issues. He told me to put the wallet in the tray and they can't stop me from doing it, yet I had a guy 2 games a go refuse me entry to the rink. I had to wait for the head security come to let me go through. I refuse to give up my wallet as it has personal meaning to me.

I have a real crocodile, or maybe it's an alligator, wallet and I won't take it anywhere. It might be illegal and taken from me.

My wife almost lost it with the purse size restriction when she saw me with a tape measure, measuring her purse before the game last night. Let off with some expletives towards True North and while still cursing, came up with the idea that every 10 games the give away should be a purse that fits TNSE's idea of an acceptable bag. That way all the woman who carry a purse and men who carry a murse can be complient with the new rules and not out of pocket for having to buy a new carry bag.

I might just find myself a nice purse at value village that meets the size restriction and stuff it chock full of metal items and watch security go though it every game I attend.:naughty:

Not sure where to put this, since the obvious candidate threads all seem to be locked, but found this in any mailbox this morning, and haven't seen anything like it before:

Jets 3-Game Mini Plans are ON SALE NOW!

Starting at just $250 for 3 regular season home games! Save up to 20% over single game ticket prices!

Click the button below, or visit www.WinnipegJets.com/MiniPlans to get yours today!

Wonder if the recent slump and disappointing quality of play is starting to affect attendance in a meaningful way.

Is your mailbox in the UK? That would appear to be a desperate ad campaign.

And when I got home from the game, I found something in my inbox that I don't recall ever getting before. True North wanted my feedback on how my game experience was. I didn't bother clicking on the link to see what the survey questions were. I don't expect anything I say will make the slightest difference in how they do things. Much more cathartic to just come on this board and rant.

Don't forget they are also giving a free toque.

Will they be as nice as those Princess Auto toques they gave out last year? :sarcasm:

I received the survey after my first game as well. I only commented about electronic access. I had no problems with it but the people in front of me sure did.

The survey was odd in that it looked like it was going to be long but after I answered the first question I only got one more question.

It is, yes. Though we live between the UK and Canada most years.

Not tempted by the offer, obvs. But surprised to see it, and even more so at this point in the season. Feel like many fans would support a "learning curve" team with an emphasis on youth, skill, flair and speed over the apathetic, adrift, bumbling bunch of checked-out grinders and floaters we've been for long stretches of this season, but who knows.

You should charge Princess Auto for publicizing their business. That's about as tacky as it gets (actually no... making STH go and pick up a cheap passport holder as their "free" shwag was the tackiest).

It's the norm though. Ever see any Twins/Vikings/Wolves promos out of Minneapolis? I'm a big Twins fan and I've got a number of their promotional items over the years. Pepsi, Cariboo Coffee, etc. Pretty much every freebee has something associated with it. So I understand you don't like it but it's not remotely rare or unusual. Nobody has really ever complained all that much about the Scotia Bank scarves and those have huge, honking logos on them.
