Nowhere land
We got a slightly passed his prime Kovalev.

Prime Kovalev (Pittsburgh) was simply on another level.
Well, Lemieux did said he wasn't crazy about Kovalev. Kovalev was a complementary player. The real players when Pittsburg was a top team was Lemieux, Jagr, Stevens and Coffey. They were the cake and Kovalev was the icing on the top. That was what rip Pat Burns used to say, and many other hockey experts at the time.
With The Rangers it was the same. Kovalev was just a good player and the real core was Messier and Leach.

That was a very strong game. No complaints about anything.

Guhle...showing his offense. Defacto our top D.

X...two mistakes but overall, getting better and better.

Dach...wow, he's the real deal as a top pick.

CC...he's the most dangerous scorer since the Flower?

Suzuki...we finally got to go back jn our history to find such a talent at center.

It's starting to look like the playoffs are a real possibility.

Get the excitement but that is way over the top!

Richer got 50 twice, Vinny was a 40 goal guy, and there were others, lol.

You forgot to mention that they will only get better moving forward as it's the young guys pushing it.
I'm not sure that's really true in terms of this season. The grind of an 82 game season tends to get to the younger players, especially rookies more then vets for many reasons and we are still quite dependent on rookies on D.

Source?

And the Kovalev era in Pittsburgh was not when Stevens and Coffey were with the team.

I remember very well the PP when Kovalev played the point in Pittsburgh and he was certainly not a complementary player.

Hard to believe they might actually make the playoffs, but some of the reasons we are supposed to be bad are just not materializing.

Hoffman is still a bum, but he's probably still going to score 25ish goals, Anderson too. And frankly Slafkovsky might very well hit 20 as well. It's not world beating but it is secondary scoring which is supposed to be one of the weak links that was going to sink the team.

With Dach it seems even less likely that Suzuki & Caufield will cool off significantly so even if the D hit a wall or the goalies cool down we seem like we have the guns to actually win those high scoring games. And most important is they seem to have the mental fortitude to comeback in games. This game was the perfect example of that, in years past those Pittsburgh goals would've completly demoralized the team.

Still think they are outside the playoffs looking in by the end of the season, but I also wouldn't bet against them since they are surprising in many different ways. Not least that they are actually really fun to watch!
It’s not odd that we find one D graduating and doing fine in the NHL. It just turns out we had 3 good Ds in our system that all more or less came to maturity at the same time. If we were a top-tier team, maybe one would have graduated, a second taxied between the NHL and the AHL, and the 3rd would have played all year in the AHL. That’s despite all 3 being NHL level Ds.

We had no choice we had to empty our cupboards at once. They’re all ready to perform well in the NHL… And then being the worst team, we got the pick of the litter of bubble NHL D in Kovacevik… Even if we sucked last season, we just need to accept that our Ds now don’t look far off middle of the pack teams. 🤷

The D might hit a wall but the guys producing up front are young but not rookies, I'm not expecting a down curve whatsoever...

First line with 49 points in 15 games and their average age is 22.3 ? How crazy/funny/awesome/unbelievable is that

Couldn't catch the game unfortunately.. Just watched the highlights...

Man... that Suzuki goal...

I am still in disbelief that we have such an exciting core, actually playing for us!!!

We surely won't get a true super mega star in Bedard, but I trust that our management will grab extra picks and such and get us some good solid players (think Beck last year).

This Habs team is playing like a bunch of rabid dogs... They never quit! I love the team's character. This isn't the roll 4 3rd lines full of grinders model that we have been following for the past decades. Saint-Louis is doing an amazing job forging these young kids into (talented) warriors.

The future is bright, for once...

The future is bright. But it would be off the charts bright with a top 3 pick in this year's draft...

Couldn’t catch the game either but they’ve been replaying it in its entirety on TVA Spanre. They’re now showing the 3rd.

Maybe Florida call pull this off for us?

In all seriousness... I don't think we can keep this winning pace forever... I am pretty sure we'll get a pretty high pick in the draft.

As you say, a top 3 would be amazing, but on the other hand, I want to see the core get thirsty for blood...errr wins.

The youtube highlights were good enough :)

The way Moneyhands pounced on the rebound that Jarry coughed up in the 3rd to score the tying goal, surprised me. He’s so agile and reactive with his stick, that he’s just lethal near the blue paint.

He’s one of those guys that you want out there whenever the game is on the line.
