Topi is worth a 1st now, imo.

I am not sure how to value Anderson....that's a big contract to take on.

Not sure how I feel about this overall, but I think either way, Montreal would do better selling these two separately.

Based on reports from insiders the Habs don't want to trade Anderson and when teams have called to get him the ask has been huge for him.

Mtl:
Alex Kerfoot
Holl
Topi Niemela

Tor:
Edmondson
Anderson

Toronto receives two more physical better players an Mtl gets two quality players plus Topi Niemela. Kerfoot and Holl can be dealt at TDL
Holl is as bad as Wideman our number 8th defenceman.

Kerfoot is a 3rd liner center, I prefer Monahan.

Niemela is a good prospect but we have Ghule Harris Mailloux Xhekaj and Barron who are all better and I didn't add Hutson.

We're not gifting a hard hitting 2nd pairing defenceman to Toronto. Anderson would probably be Toronto best winger in the next playoff when you look at how soft this group is.

No thanks OP.

Mtl would not trade Edmundson alone for that return. It seems like all off a sudden everyone needs a D-man. Leafs, Ottawa, Oilers etc - that will affect the return. If you want to get an idea of what an established Top 4 D man from a rebuilding team with current year and one more on a bargain contract is worth- look at what Leafs paid for Muzzin. Granted Edmundson does not have the offense that Muzzin had them so the return is a bit less but starting point is 1st or equivalent prospect plus.

Also a rebuilding team like Mtl that already has too many players on NHL roster does not want to take back a bunch of crap contracts. The goal is to get rid of players not add expiring contracts unless they come with a sweetener like Monahan did

Why doesn't Toronto deal them and give Montreal the picks? Offer seems light.

A 2nd pairing defenseman who has missed significant time to injury the last two seasons for a total of 29 games played and a middle six power forward who makes 5.5M per for 5 seasons and has one season above the 40 point barrier.

Justin Holl has averaged over 20 minutes the past 3 seasons in Toronto no matter the defensive makeup on a perrenial playoff team. Edmundson didn't hit 20 minutes just last season on Montreal's 1st overall pick team. But, at 2M he is a cap dump.

Kerfoot just scored 52 points without PP time. Anderson scored 32 points with over 2 minutes of PP time. While, Kerfoot also has reached 40 points or higher 3 times now. While being a regular PK contributer. But, he's a 3rd liner and Anderson is middle six.

Should have fact checked before posting.

Yep he's just in that sweet spot where players of his kind start falling apart, and quickly.

Grouping them and not looking at skating is flawed. Anderson is not going to rack up points on the Habs with the centers we got behind Suzuki but he is a playoff warrior who has multiple levels to his game. His skating is still top notch and this is not a Lucic type situation. It's neither a value contract or a bad contract.

Regardless, Habs are not making this trade. Some Habs fans and media are horny to trade Anderson but management is not.

Value-wise this would be an absolute non-starter for MTL. Two leaders on the team signed to long term contracts and performing to those expectations for the most part. Neither are untouchable by any means, but they aren't cap dumps. If Toronto doesn't value these players due to their own cap concerns, that isn't Montreal's problem.

Niemela could be attractive as the team has a need for RD long-term, but Holl and Kerfoot have little to no value to the Habs.

You guys can go into circles with nit picking some players but this is not a trade the Habs are interested in.

Doesn't seem like enough from the Leafs. Using previous deals I would think a 1st or comparable prospect is the starting point for Edmundson, so Niemela would be that value. Then there's Anderson for Holl and Kerfoot. The cap works, but the pieces are not going to improve the Canadians (Holl and Kerfoot). Montreal is in a rebuild, if they are moving older players (28+) its to get younger or add assets (draft picks). If I'm the Habs, I would take on salary to make a deal work, but I wouldn't want the $$ to be considered an asset, the asset would need to be a young player or draft capital.

No interest in either player from Montreal. I'm glad the habs are happy with them but the Leafs need physicality that can actually produce.
