This was the role he was "competing" for with the Preds to start the season and presumably the reason they waived him as well. The other guys kept over him (e.g. Grimaldi), while not really playing, at least could be counted on to adequately fill in to any roster slot and role asked of them.

I will steal my own post from our last GDT, seems Guerin agreed:

“Didn't see much of Pitlick outside of another poor forecheck effort, the whole team identity is going hard in those corners and when one guy isn't doing it, its very obvious, if he wants to stick around, he will need to be fully committed.”

Yes but don't IR player still count against the cap? I tought it was only LTIR player that counted against the cap.

That's what I'm saying.

Not sure how IR/LTIR cap complications work. They aren't exactly straight forward. But according to Capfriendly we have over 9 million in space after the claim so I guess not.

How often do they update the waivers claim order? Do they go by points or P%? Is it possible that Arizona and Montreal both out in a claim but because of a quirk in the system MTL got him?
Priority is updated everyday at 2 based on pts percentage, no quirks!

He's sort of a poor man's Caufield. Good guy, was very happy to be playing at home in MN. Some nice hands and offensive skill, but nothing jaw dropping. Plays small. Don't see him being a C in the NHL.

I didn’t know because I don’t pay attention to Rem f***in’ Pitlick. And I appreciated the info because of that.

Weird thing to be upset about, my man.

Not upset at all.

There's thinking you know, and then there's having proof that you know. Gonna hate on a guy who's putting in work? Seems sorta harsh.

I don't know, putting in work to tell people stuff they already know seems rather redundant.

Pitlick is not a center in this league. He’s a passable winger for a stretch who has a little ability on the offensive side of the ice. Doesn’t mean a whole lot when that ability isn’t anything to write home about and can’t play well enough in the neutral zone or defensive zone. Just means he’s a holding a spot that you will be looking to replace.

Would say that it’s more Dewar took his spot.
This is about what I would have said from our glimpses of him in Nashville too, and why Poile didn't mind putting him on waivers. He's reasonably quick and has some decent offensive instincts, so if you really force-fed him offensive opportunity, he might put up some half-decent numbers. But then if you ever wanted to be a really competitive team, you'd always want to upgrade his spot in the lineup with a more complete stronger player, probably. But if the Habs have enough spots open in the lineup atm, maybe they're just the team to force-feed him that opportunity, and if he puts up any numbers in the process maybe it turns him into a minor asset of sorts. Definitely no harm in the Habs taking him in that context. :dunno:

Price is a non-roster player and his contract isn't counted against the cap. Once he is activated we will have to make room for him, but we have a really large roster due to all the injuries too, so sending guys down to Laval will help a lot.
