I don't see that big of a potentiel compare to Lafeniere versus Wright, Cooley or Slyf,
Nemec though could be a top 1 defense guy for years to come.
But still , we can't predict the future can we.

Laf isn't worth more than a late pick at the moment. How does having the worst sophomore 1st overall numbers in the last 25+ years equal a re-do pick? I'd do Calgary's pick and a small add on the chance he could break out with Suzuki and Caufield.

Laf is not having a great start to his NHL career and the top 3 are expected to be the 3 centres. So based solely on the position Id keep the pick and take a center. Heck I think Id rather have Nemec also over Laf.....

Lafreniere is trending behind most 1st overall picks and plays a relatively less important position. Unless Lafreniere takes a significant leap, odds are pretty good you can get a better player with that pick.

The only reason this thread exists is because he's French Canadian. If he was Alex Fresney from upstate New York then the thought wouldn't even exist.

They are guaranteed one of Savoie, Nemec or Cooley. Just draft which one they like the most.

Suzuki and one of the two Cs above sets them up for the future down the middle.

MTL is not moving a potential shot at a 1C or a 1D for a winger having a hard time to perform, whose ELC is going to be up next year… to be clear I am not saying Lafreniere is worth nothing.

I think the Op is on to something but his price is too high.

First off they're hosting the draft so trading that pick is a PR disaster.

Montreal has a ton of other picks. At this point a late first+ or something could make sense.
