To NYR:
Pacioretty $4.5 until 18-19
Emelin $4.1 until 17-18

To MTL:
McDonagh $4.7 until 18-19
Nash (50% retained) $3.9 until 17-18

Have included Emelin to make the cash work, but I believe Beaulieu could be included with a cap dump as an alternative if necessary.

acknowledging max pax is legit value, but would prefer

McD + NYR 2017 3rd + 2018 4th
for
Trouba + Jets 2017 2nd + 2018 3rd

thanks, decline.

other VET deal for max pax? younger core of Kreider, Miller, etc off the table.

You wouldn't by any chance be a Montreal fan would you?

An intimate observer. At any rate, I think Pacioretty for McDonagh straight up is a pretty fair deal, but acknowledge that it is harder to find D over Wingers. With that said, does:

Pacioretty & Beaulieu

for

McDonagh

Work?

If you change Beaulieu at $1.0 for Emelin, does that make it better?

I suppose it make is better but not close enough.

If the Rangers are retaining 50% of Nash the return would need to be massive. Yes he did not have the best year last year but is just one year removed an amazing season. His average year is much better than last year and he holds a lot more value than what is being shown in this deal.

Also McDonough is one of the league's best d-men. That is not over exaggerating. I am not a Rangers fan (kings fan) so the cost for him alone would likely be Patches. The habs would not offer that as it would hinder their forward depth too much, and the rangers likely would not accept a 1 for 1 swap either, but lets assume McDonough = Patches, than this deal would be Nash 50% retained for Bealieau?

As a fan of both teams, it's a terrible deal for the Rangers. They lose a top defencemen, and top forward (when healthy) for a similar forward and overpaid top six defencemen. The Rangers don't need a forward, they need defence. So how does trading their best defencemen by far help? Need wise, and value wise it's terrible.

Seriously?

Honestly, I thought it made sense initially, Nash having to be protected in Expansion etc. However, having thought about it and read the responses, I think the following is equitable and honestly might make both teams better.

Pacioretty & Beaulieu

McDonagh

I wouldnt do that as a Habs fan. How are we going to replace Pacioretty 35 goals / year?

With Nash threw in, it made a bit of sense. But like this not really.

I agree that it would make things difficult. However, they will have some cap savings and could easily bring in a Hudler type to replace production.

A pairing of Weber & McDonagh for 3 years is too good to pass up.
