I mean, are we saying Habs fans or insiders? Because Petry returned exactly what was expected based on the actual reporting. Montreal wanted to get younger, cheaper and get a replacement D. And that's exactly what they got.
SOME Habs fans on these boards.

just like SOME people didn't think the Habs would get a 1st out of Florida and Colorado last season.

I'm getting tired of people believing just because one or two fans from a certain team said something then that means the entire fan base believes and thinks the exact same thing.

Habs def would have taken Pageau or Beau for less than a 1st, if they could send armia or allen back
Well sure, but that’s the point. Teams are trying to ditch money, not take any back.

Look at poor Nic Hague right now. Vegas can’t sign him because they’ll be over 10% of the cap. Even though, they’re going to get like $13 million in LTIR. Problem is, that’s not until the day before the season. So he won’t be able to attend training camp, even if he’s agreed to a deal. You can’t PTO an RFA.

So unless Hague took below market money, which he shouldn’t, he misses camp.

That’s just one of many examples. Look at Sandin.

Teams need to get rid of AAV but the market is evil right now. Teams like Anaheim, Detroit and a couple others have real cap space. But there really is only a few. So a 1st for SM, might only be the beginning. The price might still go up.

They just traded a 1st round pick in a deep draft.
Only 1 person is saying there is a first involved. Someone I've never heard of, have no idea if they are even legit as they just do shit for fantasy hockey... and that claim was over 30 minutes ago and none of the real insiders have yet to mention anything about a 1st.

I get that. I just wish people would actually read what the insiders write. Guys like Friedman, Dreger and Seravalli are right far more often than not.

i don't think that will happen, Calgary are still a really good team and they play in a dookie division.
I don't think it will happen either, Its just that Ottawa didn't think they would be in that position either after signing Duchene. Weird things happen in this league.:skeptic:

I hate the Habs but if it's a first, obvious no brainer. Shit he might even rebound and get you guys a 2nd at the tdl.
Great move for the Habs. 🤮 is how I feel when you guys make a good move lol. I hold a grudge for the many beatdowns on my nucks in the bubble lol.
Sorry about the Bubble. We just trying to do best we can

Monahan has 1 year left on his deal, Low risk, high upside for montreal. The 1st round pick is a no brainer for montreal.

If he can get 30-40 points for a year, paid for easy and no obligation next year.

Damn he's really fallen that much huh?
He's had so many injuries over the past few years, and has played hurt so much, its hard to know what kind of player he is anymore. He was hurt last year, with a hip injury that required surgery, and I think he tried to play though it for awhile until the team shut him down because he was hurting more than helping anyway. Lucic on the other hand, fit into Sutter's system well, and I don't think any Flames fans complained about what he brought to the table, aside from his salary.

If a 1st is going back I'd suggest neither party has much hope in Monahan's health, similar to what's happened with Max Pat since that trade.
