This is yet another proposal that works for neither team - Montreal is in no position to be selling off multiple pieces with potential, that fit the timeline for the current core, to improve for the next few years, while they still have 4-5 bad contracts on the books, and Carolina is trying to win now and has no reason to sell a key piece in its prime for a series of unproven kids/picks.

Trading an established player in their prime for picks and prospects just isn't something teams trying to compete do.

Trading picks and prospects for an established player in their prime just isn't something rebuilding teams do.

Caufield has not played 6 years...please learn hockey:nod:
you guys promised he will score 40+ when he plays 82 games

learn to project hockey

Ah yes because clearly Carolina is gearing up for a rebuild so they should sell off the best value contract on their roster for futures. Maybe New Jersey will give you Bratt, or Jets will give you Morrissey.
how about calgary giving up huberdeau? :sarcasm:

MTL : Logan Mailloux + CGY first 2025 (around #20) + Owen Beck + Joshua Roy
for
CAR : ANDREI SVECHNIKOV

MTL ; Logan will be a top 4 RHD and Beck a 3rd center + a mid first round pick + a top 6 prospect.
Also get 3 great player cheap on the cap salary.
for
Svechnikov could be our top 6 for years maybe even play with Demidov.
And Carolina could sign Necas
Setting value discussion aside:

Canes: We need size and scoring upfront. We've got Nikishin, Morrow and a number of solid D prospects, and a too many bottom six players; and all of our top F prospects are skilled, but small.

Lockin17: Hey, how about trading your 1 skilled scorer with size for a Defensemen, a bottom sixer and picks/prospects!

Just from Carolina's viewpoint, how would this improve their competitiveness? I don't think it would.

And from the Habs side it would open up gaps in our rebuild, losing a top 4RHD and middle 6C.

Injury prone 9 mill player while giving up 3 B+ prospects that we need for our rebuild + a 1st? That could be in 11th overall range. Yea sign me up...not.
Who's making $9M? Svech is $7.75M/yr! Also, no worries about signing you up, 0% Canes fans are even remotely interested in this

The habs are not giving up the equivalent of four 1st round picks for a player who is injury prone and as a result will only give you 50-60 pts per season.
