Player Discussion MSL finalist for coach of the year!

Impressive for all 3 guys!!

Congrats to all 3 guys..............MSL is the guy who has ALL the pressure.

Very deserving of the nomination.
Arniel will be the winner, but to be mentioned with those guys is great for Marty and the team......the players would all be so happy.

He is our guy, and he is progressing step by step as is his team.......it was a great season on most accounts...

Much deserved. He obviously won't win.

Should he win, that's almost a guaranteed firing within a couple of seasons or so. (See recent Jack Adams winners.) Which means that either Arniel or Carbery (or both) are going to lose their jobs pretty soon. If you blink, you miss it.

I am very very surprised. I would had placed him mid-pack at best among the 32 coaches. Exactly where his team finished in the standings.

I was under the impression that coaching was a serious problem....what happened???
While I don't think he was a problem, I like him, not a fan of man to man, but that's another story, isn't there enough proofs that this trophy is insanely overrated? How many are fired 2 or 3 years after winning it? And frankly, this trophy means ''Teams that surpassed OUR expectations...who is OUR? Well we are ''journalists'' who are often wrong on everything...''

He still has a lot to learn but I think he's done an overall good job with what he's been given to work with so far.

Well deserved imo.

i think certain coaches are perfect for specific timelines of a club.. MSL is perfect for a rebuilding club, a guy like Berube is perfect for getting softies to play playoff hockey. Torts is used for an FU (by management) to players (who cant be moved) - last option.

It will be interesting to see MSL evolve just as our players are becoming stars..

Man, Vincent is 100% going to get poached by some NHL team.

which is why the Habs will have to pay PV an NHL salary.. and quite frankly they would be crazy to let him go, there is no cap on Management. What he has accomplished in Laval is next level (in 1 year). Imagine how much better they will become when we start giving legit prospects to him? Prospects will elect to play Laval (instead of Euro or NCAA) when players realize they are learning to become pros: be it with the Habs or to another NHL club (via trade). You can't achieve this with guys like Sly at the helm... We have a lot of draft picks in the next 2 years, and PV is making them better (improving their asset value) - this is massive currency for HUGO.

If the Habs become known as "the" place to get drafted and a pathway to an NHL career via Laval, it will solidify the big club for over a decade.

3 years is the "normal" duration of a HC tenure. Or was the normal, now it seems to be 2..

But the last 3 winners....:
- 2024: Tocchet, ditched the Canucks a few days ago.
- 2023: Montgomery, was fired in early 2024-2025 season (was hired by the Blues and killed it there though)...Bruins still sucked after.
- 2022: Sutter, fired at the end of the 2022-2023 season

Without taking anything from MSL’s great achievement, Jack Adams has unfortunately very often awarded to the coaches of the teams that exceed the expectations the most as the difference is attributed to the coach.

Case in point, Cooper has never won the Trophy and Jacques Demers is the only one to win back-to-back and with the same team (in 86 and 87). You cannot convince me that the best coach changes from year to year so much more than the best player that practically no one is the best consistently.

As it has been repeated often in the last few weeks, JA nominations and winners does not guarantee firing. NHL coaches have a very short shelf life. That's the actual correlation. Not the Jack Adams.
