Or as silent as a J.D. & The Straight Shot concert.
My good friend is an executive at the Weinstein company. Harvey Weinstein and Jimmy Dolan are really close friends (shocking, I know).
Anyway, my buddy got invited to a JD and the Straight Shot concert -- he said he has seen plenty of better performances at karaoke bars. Nice to see JD is as poor at his second career as he is with his first
Me and my father have had season tickets since 2005. Not once personally or from any of our season ticket holder friends have we heard about "not being allowed to boo"
I could imagine sometimes the security would get involved cause one game I went to in the past this drunk guy was screaming for Malik to kill himself, not really what some would want a child to hear. To kick them out for booing seems to be over the top though.
In St. Louis' first game as a ranger, i wore my callahan jersey to the game.
The jumbotron camera crew came by our section, stopped to shoot, but then quickly picked up and moved along. My friend asked why they were moving:
"we're not allowed to show anyone wearing a C on their jersey"
- Not really the same type of censorship, but I just found that funny.

Seems that is Dolan had his way, the crowd would be as silent as if they were at a Play on Broadway.
But, the Corporate ****** bags have complained that they cannot hear the other guy on the cell phone during the game so they need to have the noise level lowered
Sorry, but I find this to be complete nonsense. MSG is just quiet. No one told them to be quiet. They just are.
Besides, the nasty sign raising, toilet paper throwing, air horn blasting fans form yesteryear are either dead or they were priced out, so doing all that crazy **** in front of their plasmas in the living room.

Yep, it gets worse as the years go by. I like going to games because i enjoy watching the Rangers play in person, but with the price and the lack of atmosphere these days, I really can't see myself going more than once every year or two.
This just makes me so sad.
Not even angry. Just sad.
I remember going to a game around 1960 when someone in the upper deck launched balloons printed with "Muzz Must Go" and "Muzz Doit Aller" - not the best French, but the dissatisfaction with the GM was clear, even if some of the balloons were lost in the cigar smoke haze. There may have been chanting.
The Cigar Must Go!
I think we were in the same lounge for Game 3. A few guys were giving it to Sather (telling him to sign Stastny and that Stepan sucked), loud and close enough that it was clearly audible to Slats. While Sather kinda just sat there, I think it was Jim Schoenfeld who first gestured to the fans to sit down (who misinterpreted it as a thumbs down signal, which they reciprocated). As the yelling continued, JS flipped his **** started running towards our lounge. He never got there, but a few large security guys did. I didn't want to miss the game, so I did not hear the conversation that took place, but I don't think anyone was thrown out.
I would love for there to be a legitimate study done seeing if there is any correlation between average ticket prices and crowd noise for American hockey teams.
