Or as silent as a J.D. & The Straight Shot concert.

My good friend is an executive at the Weinstein company. Harvey Weinstein and Jimmy Dolan are really close friends (shocking, I know).

Anyway, my buddy got invited to a JD and the Straight Shot concert -- he said he has seen plenty of better performances at karaoke bars. Nice to see JD is as poor at his second career as he is with his first

Was this friend me? ;)

That's where I used to work for almost 10 years. They are good friends, Harvey is on the BOD for Robin Hood Charities and Dolan produces many of their functions.

I've seen it happen once. The next home game after the Leetch trade, people were passing out Fire Sather flyers, and the "blue seats" were chanting the whole game. Security finally came and tried to take away all of the flyers and did throw people out.

Me and my father have had season tickets since 2005. Not once personally or from any of our season ticket holder friends have we heard about "not being allowed to boo"

I could imagine sometimes the security would get involved cause one game I went to in the past this drunk guy was screaming for Malik to kill himself, not really what some would want a child to hear. To kick them out for booing seems to be over the top though.

In St. Louis' first game as a ranger, i wore my callahan jersey to the game.

The jumbotron camera crew came by our section, stopped to shoot, but then quickly picked up and moved along. My friend asked why they were moving:

"we're not allowed to show anyone wearing a C on their jersey"

- Not really the same type of censorship, but I just found that funny.

You guys are right. Booing is allowed. Verbally accosting an individual fan, player, executive may not be tolerated if it goes too far but there is a difference. Booing may be in poor taste but it is allowed. If it was not allowed at all than my ears must have been deceiving me last night, and for years of Rozi/Malik.

I find that creepy.

Wow, that's just ridiculous. I know the MSG propaganda machine essentially erased any presence of Cally at the Garden right after the trade, but refusing to show a fan with a Callahan jersey on the Jumbotron is just taking it too far.

I'm going out on a limb and will say within 3 years the Garden is gonna be quieter than FNC during the Sabres tank. And that's really quiet here. I am upset that they're trying to "tame" the crowd and do nonsense like panning away from Cally jerseys. What a bunch of toolery from whoever employed that tactic. Disgusted. Oh, and quit pricing out the fans who show up and pay a crazy amount already to come to 41 games a year.

Seems that is Dolan had his way, the crowd would be as silent as if they were at a Play on Broadway.

But, the Corporate ****** bags have complained that they cannot hear the other guy on the cell phone during the game so they need to have the noise level lowered

Pretty much

Sorry, but I find this to be complete nonsense. MSG is just quiet. No one told them to be quiet. They just are.

Besides, the nasty sign raising, toilet paper throwing, air horn blasting fans form yesteryear are either dead or they were priced out, so they are doing all that crazy **** in front of their plasmas in the living room.

Yep, it gets worse as the years go by. I like going to games because i enjoy watching the Rangers play in person, but with the price and the lack of atmosphere these days, I really can't see myself going more than once every year or two.

I would love for there to be a legitimate study done seeing if there is any correlation between average ticket prices and crowd noise for American hockey teams.

This just makes me so sad.

Not even angry. Just sad.

Part of what comes with the higher ticket prices is an older crowd too. I've never felt it was just about money.
I am 47. When I was in my 20's I'd go to hockey, football, baseball games with a bunch of buddies and we'd scream like lunatics for three hours. When is the last time you saw 5 or 6 2o year olds walking around the Garden screaming their heads off?
I am as big a fan as anyone, but at my age I cannot just manufacture noise for the sake of it. I need something from the team to make me want to cheer.
Guys like me are to blame (I am sorry) but it's just a function of getting older. It's unfortunate that 25 year olds can't afford to go because they are the ones who would keep the atmosphere lively.

I remember going to a game around 1960 when someone in the upper deck launched balloons printed with "Muzz Must Go" and "Muzz Doit Aller" - not the best French, but the dissatisfaction with the GM was clear, even if some of the balloons were lost in the cigar smoke haze. There may have been chanting.

The Cigar Must Go!

When I was reading up on Muzz Patrick just now, I saw that we have had only 11 GMs, but 36 (?!) coaches.

GM in New York really is kind of a pope-like job...

I think we were in the same lounge for Game 3. A few guys were giving it to Sather (telling him to sign Stastny and that Stepan sucked), loud and close enough that it was clearly audible to Slats. While Sather kinda just sat there, I think it was Jim Schoenfeld who first gestured to the fans to sit down (who misinterpreted it as a thumbs down signal, which they reciprocated). As the yelling continued, JS flipped his **** started running towards our lounge. He never got there, but a few large security guys did. I didn't want to miss the game, so I did not hear the conversation that took place, but I don't think anyone was thrown out.

I was there Nash and i was the guy who handled the Guards..This was a great recap of what happened Nash nailed it word for word. Sather called the head of security and ordered the box to be evicted for being unruly lol.. I spoke to the head of security for the floor and he agreed this was a total joke . They then proceeded to assign to guards to the door and they sat there the rest of the game.. I was there again last night and spoke to a few guys who teased me that I had more pull then Sather.. They informed me that Glen has Rabbit ears and is very sensitive to be called out or spoken to and that JS is his enforcer. He told me during the flyers series fans were thrown out for being to loud and at one point Sather had to be held back from charging a group of fans chanting Fire Sather.. The Garden got my last dollar for now because I was embarrassed how they treated there fans.. I was asked to cut a promo for the score board because of the guys i was with at the Time Eddie Giacomin and Gresh. I shot the video about the 79 Rangers Team and when i was done the producer told me it was the best one of the Playoffs and then told me they wont air it because I was wearing a Boogaard tee shirt on.. I asked why and they told me the Rangers wont use it... FU Dolan and MSG,. I sold 40 thousand dollars worth of Tickets in two series only to be embarrassed by them

Interesting... if you kept it to American stadiums then I'm sure you would see some sort of coorelation on the scatter plot, but you would have to discount the Canadian markets eh, because they sell out no matter what, and it is loud.

On the Garden, I don't think it's a matter of class (socioeconomic or courteousness) but rather PR if the OP's statement is true (which it has been on numerous occasions, Go Ricky!). The Rangers are run by a media company, and one that is very PR savvy, they don't want the brand sullied.

We haven't heard this sort of booing since the days of Michal Rosival playing 1st pair minutes. I think the discernible lack of effort from key cogs in the line up are what is to be attributed to the fan reaction.

I don't know if there is any censorship taking place, but if there is anything the Rangers should be shunning or preventing, it should be Rick Nash's and Brad Richard's golf club membership.
