One of the best shows ever.
It's weird...I worshipped ST: TNG like everyone, and I fell for the quirkiness of Voyager...but I always thought DS9 was trash. But a pal of mine told me it was really good so I gave the whole show a real shot and I was "thankful" this Thanksgiving for watching this show so I decided to fire it up again...

Love all the trios in the show:
Cardassian - Dukat, Damar and Garak
DS9 Ferengi - Quark, Rom and Nog
"New" Starfleet - Sisko, Jadzia Dax and Dr. Bashir
Klingons - Worf, Martok and Gowron
etc.

The first one left me uncomfortable. I’ll definitely be watching the second when possible.

Did you get to see Long Legs? I enjoyed that one as well!
Long Legs was great! I found it to be closer to a mystery/thriller than a horror, but I enjoyed it. Nic Cage was good haha

I can’t wait to watch the Penguin. Waiting for my sons to get home from college over Christmas break

The baby has been sleeping a bunch during the day recently, and it gave the wife and I some time to watch some TV.

If you are a fan of murder mysteries, I highly recommend "A Murder at the End of the World".

Just a great little miniseries that keeps you guessing episode to episode and the big reveal is solvable if you are paying attention. Basically everything a good mystery should be.

The Fall with Gillian Anderson and Jaime Dornan - great cat and mouse serial killer short series.

The Outpost - True story, wicked good

13 Hours - another great military show

Extraction and Extraction 2 when action and violence is the go to.

The Punisher series - loved it, watched it 3 times, Disney should have kept it going.

Terminal List, Lioness, Reacher, The Night Agent, Mindhunters, all good series

Bosch - really liked this series

both Sicario movies are wild

Animal Kingdom is a wild ride

The Vahalla Murders was well done

I had no idea House of Cards was this incredible. Normally, when it comes to original content, Netflix drops the ball but, this show is one of the best I've seen.

Other older shows that I had no idea were so good and watched recently:
Rome (HBO)
Deadwood (HBO)

IMO, Penguin is the best show of 2024. I was hesitant because I am completely over the saturation of comic book stuff, but this is more like a modern version of the Sopranos.

1st episode was a little slow but it just gets better and better. I'm watching #6 tonight. It is def. much more a gangster show, street level stuff. Closest 'superhero' one I can think of is Daredevil/Punisher but even that was focused on 'powers', this is just for the most part regular dudes scheming and drama over spectacle (though when they DO use it, it's got major effect).

Landman on paramount+!!! Billy bob thornton is awesome in it. Written by Taylor sheridan (yellowstone, sicario, windriver, hell or high water, lioness) Anything this dude writes is good.

I recently discovered the show Detroiters and have been watching that. It's pretty funny. I really like Tim Robinson. I've also been watching Tacoma FD.

I've lost interest in watching a lot of TV series. I spend time watching podcasts, comedy and other random stuff on YouTube.

I did watch a pretty funny 80's style comedy movie called Snack Bar the other day and it was pretty funny.

Late Night with the Devil is one of the best horror films I've seen in awhile, even if the ending felt like a little bit of a letdown. I also, surprisingly, liked Shyamalan's Trap. The first two-thirds was really well done, but it goes a bit off the rails after that. Some of it doesn't make sense, but I enjoyed the ride. I didn't know anything about it other than it was about a father taking his daughter to a concert and weird stuff starts happening, which was for the best. I didn't know the patented Shyamalan twist.

I also watched a Spanish film from 1995 called The Day of the Beast, which I absolutely loved. If you're into dark comedy, you'd probably like it. Here's the synopsis from IMDB: "Bent on committing as many sins as possible to avert the birth of the beast, a Catholic priest teams up with a Black Metal aficionado and an Italian connoisseur of the occult. Now, he must become an unrelenting sinner. Is there still hope?"

Late Night with the Devil was refreshing for a horror and very enjoyable. Didn't expect to see it mentioned on here

Watched an Indian movie called RRR randomly. Started off with us just wanting to watch a corny Indian style movie and it turned out to be absolutely great. Best movie I’ve seen this year.

96% on Rotten Tomatoes. If you’ve seen Indian movies you know how creative they get with CGI almost in a it’s so good that it’s bad type of way.

Awesome story, great movie, awesome cinematography, amazing locations, 10/10 action scenes. 3 hours of nonstop fun and no BS like you see in American movies where there is a 10 hour sex scene for the sake of it.

Also, I’ve gotten into this interesting time in my life where I want to watch stupid low mental investment movies since it’s honestly more enjoyable. I feel like with modern movies they try so hard to be thought provoking that they drop the ball and do dumb shit. Like making Bran the King and making Jon Snow into some loser who defied death. Came back alive only to be a nobody. Or having some midget like Aria kill the ice king.

Dumb stupid writing like that that tried hard to be interesting and missed the entire mark because of it.

That’s why I am watching some of the worst movies of all time and having fun because they suck lol. Steven Seagal is the worst actor I’ve ever seen and his movies are so f***ing awful that he should go to jail for the bullshit his company “Steamroller productions” make.

Another more recent Indian film I liked is Malang. It's kind of a good cop/bad cop searching for a killer, but also a revenge flick. There were some moments in the beginning that felt like watching some influencer's travel videos, but they are pertinent to the story and characters. The film keeps jumping back and forwards through time, giving you bits to piece together as it goes along. I see it gets middling reviews, but I really enjoyed it.

Lmaooo I love this video. I saw this movie. So bad. He’s literally sitting down the whole time.

You laugh at him now, but you can’t keep a Jamaican brudda down.

LMAOOOOOOOO I've never heard this

I almost didn't believe it for a second, had to look it up

RRR is incredible! It's so off the wall bonkers at times, yet subtle and emotional at others.

The cinematography during Raju's introduction is one of the most impressive things I've seen in film. There is no reason to have the cameras at ground level showing him fight off an entire mob, and yet not only do they do it, it's really really well done.

Also the callback to the piggy back ride at the beginning and it having a payoff is amazing.

Everyone should watch this movie.

When I was in elementary school I thought his movies were cool. I remember when Only Deadly Ground came out and seeing the preview thinking this guy just makes the same dumb movie over and over. Then as I got older and tried to rewatch some of them for nostalgia it really hit home how bad his movies are. Not too mention the guy is a complete lunatic.
