Habs are 7-1-2 in out last ten, but the common theme is we are some how struggling!
Last year the Jets went into the POs with 8 straight wins including a 7/0 win against Colorado. The Avs destroyed them in 5 games.
The Caps are the real deal. I doubt the Habs have much of a chance.

Good to see some fresh faces in the playoffs this year. Habs have some dynamic young players that will be exciting to see in the post-season for the first time.

The Caps are one of the deepest teams in the league at every position. The Habs certainly have some top end talent in Hutson, Caufield , Suzuki, Slaf, and Demidov, but they lack the depth you need to win consistently in the playoffs. Washington will also have a distinct physical advantage with their superior size.

It's definitely true that the Capitals haven't been playing well the last few weeks. It's not really a big mystery to figure out why. While I don't think the Ovi goal chase was that much of a distraction for most of the season, as they got closer to 895, it became a circus. Combine that with already having the east locked up and there wasn't really much to play for.

Can the Caps turn it back on for the playoffs? Will the goaltending continue to be mediocre or will Thompson and Lindgren regain their earlier season form? How will the young talented Montreal players perform in their first playoffs? Should be a fun series to watch!

I’m thinking Caps in 6, but I’m way more nervous about this than I was 2-3 months ago. The Habs are catching the Caps at the worst time with Protas and LT injured.

If these two come back at full capacity, then I become confident with my prediction.

This will all be on Thompson and protas's health. Love Charlie but hes been ok this year with a dash of shitty goals allowed. What should happen in caps in 5. The caps almost never do what should happen. Caps in 6 or coin toss game 7 is my guess. Would like their chances better if they can have a statement series from the get go and win it early

Caps in 5. They’re going to bully MTL.
Maybe with just bodychecks.

When it comes to fighting, habs have the two toughest players in the series.

That said, the Habs haven't played 60 minutes in a long time, so withstand an attack for 10 minutes and then it's all downhill, or get the lead and hold them off for a bit.

Caps haven't been as sharp lately, but I think thats more with their spot being secure and Ovie having the record.

Montreal is pretty much a one line team.

The main thing the habs can hope for is being competitive in the games should and likely will lose the series which shows the free agents they're an up and coming team and might be able to get better/better depth this offseason.

...OK, I gotta know...how in the Blue Hades does an East Coaster become a Ducks fan??... :dunno:
A dumbass kid who loved the Mighty Ducks movies, had a Paul Kariya Teemu Selanne dynamic duo VHS and didn’t realize how tired it would make him as an adult.

I still tell my Dad he could’ve saved me many hours of sleep with some simple brainwashing.

Habs have been the complete opposite of that, they suck to start and get better as the game goes on

Habs just happy to be there. Gassed down the stretch and lots of holes. Their time will come but it's not now.

Caps in 5.
I think that having almost a week before their next game will be a good reset for MTL. You are right that they where playing on fumes in the last few games. So the rest and mental break can maybe... maybe do the same as the 4 nation break.

Were the caps really that bad the last few weeks? Besides that Columbus game on the weekend?
They’ve actually driven play much better since the 4 Nations break than they did before it. And that’s without Protas, Carlson, and Chychrun for a few to a handful of games. Their goaltending has just been horrific, which is obviously an issue if it continues. They have actually been playing pretty well though.

This will come down to Laine vs Ovechkin. So lets compare them quickly.

Who is the better dancer? You decide.

Who is better as an excited baby at a hockey game? You decide.

Imo the answer is clear. LAINEC!!
