Saw Furiosa a couple nights ago. It was fun at times but lacked the punch of Fury Road. Anya Taylor Joy is fine in the role but isn’t tasked with doing much. I wasn’t sure how Chris Hemsworth would be as the eccentric villain but he steals the show. If he had a better protagonist opposite him I think the whole thing would have come together much better. ATJ was not to blame, the character was just kind of ho hum. Rictus, being a huge beast in Fury Road looks old and out of shape here, which was hard to get over. The Praetorian Jack character has potential though. I wouldn’t hate a backstory on him.

While i was entertained by the movie i was underwhelmed by the finale. There’s a really good road war sequence around half way, maybe 2/3 in, so i expected the finale to kick it up a notch. It doesn’t. It ends with a whimper at best.

Thoughts on Nosferatu?
I liked it but not as much as the Witch or Lighthouse. I would put it 3rd above the Northman from Eggers. Glad I got to see it in the theaters though. Wish I could have seen the other two on the big screen. Eggers is my favorite

On another note, I am finally reading the Godfather book. I have probably wanted Part 1 20 times and am learning so much of the why things happen. Love it, should have read it sooner.

I just watched Flow. It was cute, and visually captivating considering there are no people nor dialogue in the entire movie. I'm sure there's some artsy bigger meaning to the film, but that's beyond me. It was a nice story of animals working together in the end.

Or did he? Are we sure it's not a Lynchian plot twist?
He’s not dead, but he’s actually now Bill Pullman.

Sad day for this movie-lover. I’ve gone back-and-forth on much of his filmography over the years, but he was a true artist and one of the few filmmakers who made movies only he could make. A unique cinematic language.

I don’t know if there is a TV thread so forgive me, but I recently finished both seasons of Squid Game and was surprised at how good it actually was.

Would recommend to anyone, just watch with subtitles. The dubs are not great.

Loved the first Den of Thieves when I saw it in the theater. An hour into the new one and I think it kinda sucks. Dunno why the first was slept on and this one so hyped. Well let's see how it ends.

Same thing happened with Sicario 1+2.

Watched “the substance” the other night

Phenomenal, the ending is tonally jarring but on purpose, I won’t elaborate why due to spoilers but happy to discuss

Nosferatu was also impeccable, even managed to be darkly comedic at times in ways that didn’t ruin but rather enhanced the movie. Had an absolute blast watching that one with my sister

I watched a weird early 90’s movie called The Reflecting Skin, starring Viggo Mortensen. It was good overall

Also watched 1982’s the Thing for the first time ever, great movie, want to watch it again to pick up more

I just heard about this movie that was cancelled/banned and then finally finished called “on the silver globe” that I’m going to watch sometime soon, anyone seen that?

Not a movie but I FINALLY got around to watching the wire, I’m on season 5 now. I wouldn’t claim it’s the “best show ever made” like some do, but it’s undeniably excellent and very ahead of it’s time. As a teacher the topics and ways they portrayed the school elements were definitely ahead of it’s time and very real (though I had to laugh because I could tell the kids were all actually really good kids and didn’t have the behavior issues they were portrayed to have)

The first Den of Thieves was a well done, carbon copy of Heat.
Yup.

Didn't love the ending either nor were the action scenes anything special. But I can happily watch films like that in the cinema anytime.

Anyone wants some vacation/beach reading there's a sequel to Heat that is a book. Heat 2. Not sure if it'll become a film ever but if your a fan of that movie you won't regret reading it.

And now we’ll definitely never get the Dune Lynch cut

Sort of already exists.

Also, I got to write this up exclusive last year.
